The Nurse Informaticist plays a crucial role in ensuring the clinical effectiveness of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) for nursing workflows. Reporting to the Chief Medical Informatics Officer (CMIO) and Physician Director, this position is tasked with integrating clinical expertise with health information technology to optimize nursing workflows, enhance patient care, and support the implementation and optimization of the EHR system.


The Nurse Informaticist will work closely with nurses, physicians, residents, students, and ancillary departments to develop and implement EHR content and workflows. This includes coordinating with the IT department to build and configure clinical documents within the EHR, ensuring accuracy and usability for nursing documents and workflows. Responsibilities also encompass leading clinical workgroups, mapping future-state workflows, conducting system testing, providing end-user training, supporting Go-Live, and driving post-implementation optimization.


Responsibilities:


The Nurse Informaticist will play a pivotal role in our EHR Programme team, focusing on maximizing the clinical effectiveness and operational efficiency of our Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. The Nurse Informaticist will be responsible for supporting and enhancing EHR functionality, improving nursing workflows, and ensuring the effective integration of EHR systems into everyday clinical practice.


  • Continuously collaborate and meet with nurses and physicians to gather and understand their requirements in the EHR.
  • Collaborate and work with IT and other teams to help build nursing documents in the EHR.
  • Serve as a skilled clinical resource in support of non-clinical team members.
  • Act as a domain expert for clinical workgroups, as assigned.
  • Provide weekly reporting on work progress to immediate leadership.
  • Support nurses, physicians, and ancillary staff by providing continuous support, troubleshooting, and identifying opportunities for clinical information system improvements.
  • Promote future and present system functionality by identifying and testing clinical information systems.
  • Identify clinical practice workflow and process issues, address concerns, and collaborate with leadership to define system and process requirements that optimize system performance and technology utilization.
  • Train end-users on EHR functionalities.
  • Provide elbow-level Go-Live support to clinicians.
  • Assist in methodology and content development related to various clinical and non-clinical domains.
  • Participate in internal and client-driven focus groups to gather requirements and enhancement requests for the EHR.
  • Travel as warranted by EHR program work and location, with frequency depending on program requirements.
  • Assist medical and clinical researchers in designing retrospective studies, including data generation, analysis, interpretation of data derivatives, and publication of scientific articles.
  • Support educational initiatives through the use of the EHR.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership.

Requirements:


The incumbent must have:


  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or Post RN BScN.
  • Valid Nursing License from the Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC).
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in inpatient care areas.
  • Previous experience as a clinical nurse instructor, clinical nurse specialist, assistant head nurse, nurse navigator, or nurse coordinator is preferred.
  • Prior experience with EHR usage is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows and patient care pathways.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of hospital regulations, policies, and best practices.
  • Familiarity with health informatics, data analytics, and process improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to train, mentor, and support nursing professionals in EHR adoption.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and work ethics.
