Introduction:

The Aga Khan University was found in 1983 as Pakistan’s first private university, Aga Khan University is a not-for-profit institution and an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. Starting in 2000, the University expanded to Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, United Kingdom and Afghanistan. AKU began life as a health-sciences university.


The Aga Khan University Examination Board (AKU-EB) is the first private-sector university-led trans-provincial Board (awarding body) in Pakistan established through the Ordinance of the Government of Pakistan. The Board offers high-quality examinations for Secondary School (grades 9th and 10th - SSC) and Higher Secondary School (grades 11th and 12th - HSSC/ FSC) qualifications for public and private schools across Pakistan. The Board also offers a Middle School Programme (MSP) for grades 6th–8th students and its registered schools engage a globally accepted approach, Project-Based Learning (PBL) to implement the MSP. The PBL is considered as a foundation of the AKU-EB MSP, helping schools foster sense of purpose and leadership in young learners.


At the heart of AKU-EB’s mission is to shift teaching and learning away from rote learning and move towards higher order thinking, preparing students for higher education and lifelong learning. The Board is evaluated internationally for implementing global best practices, making AKU-EB qualifications credible and recognized globally.

Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Manager (Assessment) in the Examination Board.


Responsibilities:
Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for:
  • assessment of examinations and maintaining standards (SSC and HSSC)
  • directly involved in analysis of items developed and examined
  • design of research programme in assessment
  • develop and manage a team of 4-6 people in the Assessment Department
  • work with Curriculum and Examination Department during assessment which includes the e-marking process, item development/banking, and item analysis
  • collaborate with teacher development, curriculum, and examination department when creating new assessment model for middle school projects and while assessing the projects
  • develop and conduct workshops for all academic team at the Examination Board.

Requirements:


You should have:


  • Master’s in Education/Assessment (MPhil is preferred)
  • experience in student assessment and related data analysis
  • experience in creation and management of and item bank
  • fluency in Urdu and English
  • excellent command of written and spoken English
  • attention to detail
  • the ability to manage and develop talented staff
  • commitment to working with a very talented academic staff in the curriculum and exam preparation area
  • understanding of how exams can test critical thinking and reasoning skills in students
  • unwavering commitment to the highest quality and integrity in all aspects of one’s work
