Introduction:


The Department of Surgery provides comprehensive and sub-specialty care in the areas of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Dental-Oral, Maxillo-facial Surgery, General Surgery, Breast Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Urology and Vascular Surgery.


The Department has 122 full-time and part-time faculty committed to teaching and research. Formal structured undergraduate teaching, postgraduate residency, and fellowship programmes are integrated into the academic functions of the Department.

The Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Fellow Medical Officer, Vascular Surgery in the Department of Surgery.


Responsibilities:


You will be responsible for:


  • conducting one/two clinics in the CC/CHC/satellite stations
  • reporting to faculty on matters arising in daily patient care
  • engaging in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, as assigned
  • performing procedures as per the outline highlighted in the PGME Performa for fellowship approval
  • performing initial assessment, documentation, and follow-up of patients before being seen by the Consultant
  • attending calls from the ER promptly
  • following up with patients in the recovery room and hand over patients to recovery Room personnel, while also document findings and management plan
  • performing daily ward rounds with the members of the team and communicate findings, assessment, and plan to the Consultant
  • attending call from home and tend to patient in ER/Ward if needed
  • facilitating learning of students and other health care professionals.

Requirements:


You should have:


  • an MBBS from an institution recognized by PMDC
  • a valid PMDC license
  • one year of house job or internship, of which six months should be in Medicine and allied and six months in Surgery and allied disciplines
  • FCPS Part I
  • FCPS Part II or equivalent in General Surgery is preferred
  • four years of training in General Surgery in an accredited and reputable programme
  • one year work experience in Vascular surgery.
