What is Expert Data Engineer?

Expert Data Engineer is a senior role where the ideal candidate will have a strong background in writing complex SQL queries on various databases, including Teradata, DB2, Oracle, MySQL, and MongoDB. Also, having expertise in building Data Pipelines / ETLs using Linux, Talend, Python or any relevant tools. Additionally, the candidate should have experience working with Hadoop and Hive, as well as knowledge of data science concepts and able to implement the Data Engineering modernized practices in Fintech industry. The candidate should also possess project management skills, stakeholder management skills, and be a team player.

The role reports directly to the Stream Head Analytics & Insights.

What does Expert Data Engineer do?

• Design, develop, and maintain ETL pipelines using Linux, Talend, Python pt any relevant tool
• Write complex SQL queries on Teradata, DB2, Oracle, MySQL, and MongoDB
• Work with Hadoop and Hive to process and analyze large datasets
• Apply data science concepts to solve business problems and improve data quality
• Should be able to lead a team of Technical resources to develop a solution as per Business requirements within the timeframe.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver data solutions
• Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with industry regulations
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering and fintech
• Manage projects from conception to delivery, ensuring timely and within-budget completion
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including project sponsors, team members, and customers
• Foster a collaborative team environment, providing guidance and support to junior team members

Requirements

What are we looking for and what does it require to be Expert Data Engineer?

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering
• Strong proficiency in writing ETLs using Linux, Talend, Python or any relevant tool
• Expertise in writing complex SQL queries on multiple databases (Teradata, DB2, Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB)
• Experience working with Hadoop and Hive
• Knowledge of data science concepts (machine learning, statistics, data visualization)
• Understanding of the fintech industry and relevant data regulations
• Project management skills, with experience in managing projects from conception to delivery
• Stakeholder management skills, with experience in communicating effectively with diverse stakeholders
• Team player, with experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Knowledge of data governance and quality control best practices
• Certification in data engineering or related field (e.g., Certified Data Engineer, Certified Analytics Professional)
• Experience with project management methodologies
