Introduction:


The Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences (BBS) comprises of the disciplines of Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology and Pharmacology. The department strives to achieve excellence in both teaching and research. The development and expansion of educational and thematic research programs in innovative and relevant basic and applied research will take AKU to the next level on the international scene while benefitting specific health care needs of Pakistan.

Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Coordinator in the Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences.


Responsibilities:


  • Manage the Chair’s daily schedule; arrange meetings for the Chair, ensuring agenda and documents are distributed in a timely manner.
  • Draft letters, emails and memoranda for approval by the Chair; support Chair’s office with other communications within and outside the institution through various channels including the department website.
  • Organize departmental meetings, take/transcribe minutes of the meetings, circulate agenda/minutes, make logistic arrangements for the meetings.
  • Support Chair’s Office in matters related to the educational mandate of the department, such as ensuring departmental compliance with regulatory bodies, including Pakistan Medical and Dental Council and the Higher Education Commission.
  • Support Chair’s Office in matters related to the research mandate of the department, such as keeping an updated record of the department’s grants and publications, maintaining project records in good order for review and audit, facilitating faculty in timely submissions of progress reports and grants, and assisting the department’s Grants Management Unit with administrative duties as required.
  • Assist Chair’s Office with the University’s Faculty Appointments and Promotions process as when required.

Requirements:


You should have:


  • A Master’s degree or equivalent, preferably an MBA
  • At least 2-3 years of relevant experience in administrative work
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work well with certain degree of autonomy and function successfully in a team environment.
