About Pakistan Climate Smart Agriculture: The recently awarded five-year USAID/Pakistan Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) activity is part of the U.S.-Pakistan "Green Alliance" framework, aimed at fostering bilateral cooperation to address climate, environmental, and economic challenges. This initiative focuses on building resilience within farming communities by promoting the adoption of climate-smart agricultural practices and technologies. By increasing agricultural productivity and incomes sustainably, the CSA activity aligns with USAID’s goals of inclusive economic growth, gender equity, and environmental stewardship. Activities will be implemented in a context-sensitive manner to promote increased agricultural productivity; higher resilience to climate change; and economic participation and greater incomes of socially marginalized groups, women, and girls at different stages of agricultural production and processing. In partnering with the private sector, civil society, and government stakeholders, Pakistan CSA aims to maximize the effectiveness and impact of investments. Targeted project interventions will be conducted in Punjab, Sindh, KP, and Baluchistan provinces. This project is implemented by The Kaizen Company on behalf of Tetra Tech.
Overview
The CSA Adoption Coordinator is a junior / officer-level position necessary for implementing Adoption of climate-smart agricultural practices within the farming communities. This role falls under Component 1 and the CSA Adoption Coordinator will work under the supervision of and will report to the CSA Adoption Specialist. The coordinator will collaborate with local farmers, stakeholders, subcontractors, research institutions, and both public and private sector partners to promote the adoption of innovative agricultural technologies and practices aimed at enhancing climate resilience.
The position requires significant fieldwork in the designated intervention areas, working directly with farmers, sub-contractor teams, and resource partners on field trials, demonstrations, training sessions, and facilitating farmer field schools, along with other tasks assigned by the Senior Team. The coordinator will play a key role in ensuring the successful implementation of climate-smart agriculture practices, while also supporting data collection and assisting the monitoring and evaluation team. Based in Islamabad, the coordinator will travel to intervention sites throughout the country as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate/provide technical guidance/recommendations and support the development, implementation and mainstreaming of Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) technologies across all Activity areas of interventions.
  • Provide technical guidance and impart knowledge to farmers on climate-smart agricultural practices, including but not limited to, improved water management, high-quality climate resilient seeds, regenerative agriculture practices, conservation agriculture practices, water-efficient irrigation, sustainable soil management, efficiency in livestock systems, drought-resistant crops and cropping systems, soil nutrition, and organic matter production to reduce GHG.
  • Disseminate knowledge materials using innovative mediums and resources to support the adoption of CSA practices.
  • Engage with the farming communities to raise awareness of the benefits of CSA practices.
  • Work closely with community leaders, farming groups, and all other relevant stakeholders to encourage inclusive participation and support for the CSA initiatives.
  • Collect and analyze data to assess the effectiveness of interventions and recommend improvements.
  • Engage with the stakeholders, private sector technology partners, sub-contractors, academia and government R&D institutes to facilitate the promotion and adoption of CSA technologies and practices.
  • Contribute to the Activity progress reports by providing field data, success stories and lessons learned from the fields during project implementation.
  • Any other tasks or responsibilities based on organizational and programming need, as assigned by supervisor.
  • Ensure that CSA adoption activities are inclusive and accessible to all community members, with a particular focus on empowering women, youth and socially marginalized groups.
Qualification, Experience and Skills:
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in the Agriculture, Agri-economics, Environmental Science, Rural Development, or a closely related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in agribusiness, agricultural development, climate-smart agriculture, and related areas in international development context.
  • Demonstrated experience in training, social mobilization, data collection, presentation, capacity-building particularly with farming communities
  • Strong understanding of climate change adaptation and sustainable agriculture practices
  • Experience/exposure to supply side and market related stakeholders, including the private sector, government officials, and community-based and non-governmental organizations
  • Excellent in communication, and reporting with fluency in English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, teamwork
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Must be a Pakistan national
  • Good computer literacy e.g. Windows, MS Office, data collection tools
Preferred:
  • Master’s degree (postgraduate) in Agriculture, Agri-economics, Environmental Science, Rural Development, or a closely related field
  • Experience in USAID/Agriculture projects/activities is preferred.
  • Other sub-national languages e.g. Sindhi, Punjab, Pashto, Saraiki
Salary
  • The annual salary will be determined in line with background and experience, per the local compensation plan. A standard benefits package will be offered.
