JOB PURPOSE
This role is in the Foods R&D team and based at HO in Karachi, with travel requirement to Lahore factory as per requirement. In this role you will work on new product development and business continuity projects. You will have the opportunity to learn to lead product development activities and aim to land them as per network time-lines. You will also work with and learn from with R&D Food experts and cross functional teams to ensure best product design as well as legal, nutritional and food safety compliance. It requires close partnership across internal functions (Marketing; Supply Chain; Procurement) as well as key external partners and suppliers (e.g. Third-Party Manufacturers and ingredients suppliers). WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE
Follow all relevant steps for product development projects as Technical Project Lead.
To plan, organize and execute a variety of project types as assigned under guidance from line manager, working closely with R&D experts from a variety of fields.
Support or lead technical delivery of projects, covering diverse topics such as: product concepts; formulation design and specifications; lab and pilot plant prototypes; cost, quality assessments; sustainability, legislation compliance and claims.
Write and manage specifications and systems data for the products you work on.
Manage supplier relationships working closely with other functions
Work closely with key internal partners such as: Marketing, Supply Chain and Finance
Apply Unilever development tools (Risk Analysis, Swot analysis, Design HACCP, Quality in Innovation, InnoFlex, Open Innovation etc).
Identify opportunities for cost-optimization within the foods products, formulations, raw materials, and factory processes. By analyzing technical, financial and supply chain data, you will quantify the risks and rewards associated with each opportunity and prioritize accordingly.
Assessment of new technologies and technical opportunities with the latest developments in the relevant area.
Ensure the compliance of the work to the Unilever Code of Business Principles
Knowledge of food product design processes and principles.
Working knowledge of Food Legislation.
Proficiency in English language (both written and verbal)
Create positive team spirit and team motivation.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Experiences & Qualifications
Bachelors or Masters / equivalent in Food science technology or Foods engineering.
Minimum 3 years to 4 years of Product development or Quality Assurance experience in the food industry, would be an advantage.
