As the Senior Specialist - Regulatory you will be advising the business on all regulatory matters, contribute to policy formulation, and represent Ooredoo with the legal and regulatory bodies within Oman and the wider region as necessary. The role holder functions as an interface with the regulator, presenting views and arguments on current issues under regulatory purview and mainly focusing on commercial and economics matters, Working with the Regulatory team and CLRGO in Advising management on all relevant policies and applicable telecom regulations. Help Tracking, managing and following up all reporting related compliance with mobile and fixed licenses, Telecom Act and all relevant regulations governing the telecom industry. Support to Develop and/or oversee the necessary departmental KPI’s to ensure that all corporate regulatory targets are met
Core Responsibilities
You will be responsible of the following :
Assist in representing the company's interests including strategic regulatory communication with various internal and external stakeholders. Help in supporting the business from financial perspective by working to avoid penalties specially in dealing competition and commercial matters. Assisting the Regulatory Director/CLRGO team in managing all communication with TRA including helping the CLRGO team to ensure smooth reporting and requirements are complied with in a timely manner. Work with CLRGO team to get involved with other telecommunication providers (including resellers) in the Sultanate both from a wholesale and interconnection perspective on various strategic issues to promote Ooredoo’s position in the market in relation to competition and commercial matters Help the Regulatory team to identify high risk issues and seek to resolve problems in a timely manner in line with internal processes, regulatory strategy and TRA’s requirements. Work with the CLRGO team to support internal operations and provide solutions and guidance relating to commercial and technical regulatory issues wherever possible
The Person
You should have a minimum of 4 years working experience preferably in a regulatory environment ideally within telecommunications, very good knowledge of regulatory issues and their development, knowledge of telecommunications related legislation and previous experience in the telecommunications industry or regulatory buddies, good knowledge of Oman telecom law and regulations, very good knowledge of telecom competition laws and costing principles with a University Degree – Law Degree or Economics Degree.
