Senior Project Planner


·Assists the project management team in developing, monitoring and updating of an integrated project plan so that the project may be executed in the most efficient manner possible.


·Optimizes the possibility that action can be taken before a schedule overrun of a milestone occurs.


·Makes sure he understands Worley’ standard techniques and methods of planning & scheduling and of reporting as a basis for establishing the manhours and computer cost to do or to complete these activities. It covers the preparation, on time and with the required quality, of the:


a)Overall project planning.


b)Starter planning.


c)Detailed planning.


d)Four-weekly project planning report if home based


e)Weekly project planning report if site based


·Prepares the initial project schedule and updates to Worley’ procedures as instructed by the Planning Manager (these procedures are part of the detailed Project Control Plan).


·Consults, as a Project Planning Engineer, their Supervisor on:


General matters of staffing; quality of work; performance of their team members; project planning & schedule control procedures and working methods. The Supervisor may check, review and audit the work of the Project Planning Engineer at any time.


·Ensures he understands the responsibilities and authorities of the key members of a project team.


·Controls the budgets for manhours as issued for the project planning & schedule control and reporting facilities.


·Provides planning & scheduling technical guidance and training to project personnel on planning & scheduling documents/procedures for the project (incl. physical progress measurement system).


·Interfaces with and obtains detailed input from project personnel for the development of the project planning and detailed document schedules that reflect the defined scope of work. All in accordance with the project planning & schedule control procedure.


·Works in concert with the Project Cost Engineer and the Project Administrator to ensure cost and schedule integration.


·Interfaces with the Cost Engineer to assure consistency in reporting.


·Ensures that all extra manhours for planning & scheduling activities are recorded to keep the accumulative impact on costs under control; reports these changes to the Project Manager/ Planning Manager/Supervisor.


·Monitors the progress of the project activities. This includes validating the progress of engineering documents prior to any distribution of the document status (= control level) reports. Monitors schedule deviations and, with the appropriate project key personnel, develops and recommends corrective action or revised methods to the Project Manager. It includes the assessment of the impact on the milestones of work activities becoming near-critical or critical. Follows up these actions.


·Attends in-house schedule control review meetings with the Project Manager/Engineer and presents/answers questions related to project schedules.


·Attends project progress review meetings with the Client and presents/answers questions related to project schedules.


·Attends – as Project Planning Engineer – construction progress review meetings in the field on request of the Project Manager.


·Advises the Project Manager and the Project Services Supervisor of any event or decision having a significant impact on the schedule.


·Is accountable for keeping the complete project planning & schedule up-to-date.


·Is accountable for the transfer of correct project schedule data to/from other internal systems.


·Is on the alert for schedule consequences of quality assurance requirements, changes in the scope of work and changes in project execution.


·Keeps abreast of the integration of software for planning & scheduling with software of other systems for project execution (e.g. cost control, procurement and project administration).


·Assists in the development and implementation of improved planning & scheduling techniques & methods.


·Assists in developing and recording historical scheduling information for future projects.


·Performs the (temporary) job of Field Planning Engineer if so assigned by the Project Services Supervisor and Construction Department Head.


·Sound knowledge of project planning & scheduling techniques, methods and application of schedule control tools.


·Sound knowledge of:


a)The other project control tools.


b)The Worley organization procedures related to project control.


c)Project execution for the preparation of logic networks.


·Workable knowledge of the remaining Worley organization procedures.


·Broad knowledge of the application software for planning & scheduling and its integration with cost control, procurement, document status reporting and resource allocation.


Experience

7 - 10 years of experience in Engineering, Contracting and Construction in a similar industry, for various types of contracts and clients: including 5+ years of experience as a Planning Engineer, preferably some experience with construction planning for new and revamp projects.


Qualification Required


·Degree in Engineering


  • Project Controls qualifications advantageous
  • P6 qualifications or long term user of P6 is essential
  • Project management qualifications advantageous
  • Risk and EV qualifications advantageous
