About Us
Calo is a rapidly growing food tech startup operating across four GCC countries. We provide high-quality, healthy meal solutions to customers in the region. As we expand into Oman, we’re looking for an experienced and dynamic Operations Manager to lead the setup and day-to-day operations of our new kitchen and team.


Role Overview
As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for establishing and overseeing the operations of Calo’s first kitchen in Oman. You will lead the process from sourcing the kitchen space to recruiting and managing a local team, ensuring smooth operational processes, and maintaining the high standards of quality Calo is known for.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Pre-opening activities
    • Source, negotiate, and secure an appropriate kitchen facility in Oman.
    • Oversee the design and fit-out of the kitchen, ensuring it meets Calo’s operational and health standards.
    • Recruit, hire, and train local kitchen staff, including chefs, packing team, and drivers
    • Create a positive and efficient work environment, fostering team collaboration and high performance.
    • Ensure all legal and regulatory requirements are met in Oman, including food safety, health regulations, business permits, and licences.
    • Work with local authorities to secure the necessary certifications for operations
    • Coordinate and oversee pre-launch testing, including soft launches, mock operations, and trial runs.
    • Collect feedback from test customers, and implement changes or improvements before the grand opening.
  • Operational Efficiency:
    • Develop and implement operational processes, ensuring consistency in meal production and delivery.
    • Monitor food safety standards, inventory, and waste management practices.
    • Oversee the production schedule, ensuring timely preparation and delivery of meals
    • Review and adapt Calo’s operational procedures to suit the local market.
  • Quality Control:
    • Maintain the quality standards set by Calo in terms of food quality, presentation, and customer service.
    • Regularly review and optimise processes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness
  • Budgeting & Cost Management:
    • Assist in developing the pre-opening budget, monitoring costs, and ensuring that expenditures remain within the allocated budget.
    • Ensure the efficient allocation of resources, and identify areas where cost savings can be made without compromising quality.
  • Reporting & Analytics:
    • Track key performance metrics and report on operational performance.
    • Work closely with the management team to identify opportunities for improvement and expansion.

Qualifications & Skills:


  • Proven experience in food operations, restaurant management, or similar industries.
  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations and health standards in Oman.
  • Excellent leadership, team-building, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in cost management, budgeting, and operational planning.
  • Proficiency in MS Office or equivalent tools for reporting and analytics.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic
