Job Summary
The General Ophthalmologist at Laser Center is a pivotal role responsible for providing comprehensive eye care services to patients under the guidance of the Medical & Scientific Director and the Associate Scientific & Acting Medical Director. This position entails diagnosing and treating various eye conditions and diseases, and ensuring the delivery of high quality, patient-centered care. The General Ophthalmologist collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams, maintains accurate medical records, stays updated on advancements in ophthalmic research and technology, and upholds the clinic's standards of ethical conduct and professionalism. Physician Duties:
• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and assessments to evaluate patients' visual acuity, refractive errors, and overall ocular health.
• Diagnose and manage a diverse range of eye conditions and diseases, including cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and refractive disorders, utilising evidence-based practices and the latest advancements in ophthalmic care.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique needs and preferences, incorporating medical management, surgical interventions, and/or corrective measures such as eyeglasses or contact lenses.
• Provide pre-operative counseling and post-operative care to surgical patients, monitoring their progress, addressing any concerns or complications, and facilitating their recovery process.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including optometrists, primary care physicians, and subspecialists, to coordinate patient care and optimise treatment outcomes.
• Stay abreast of the latest developments in ophthalmic research, technology, and surgical techniques, participating in continuing education activities and professional development opportunities.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all patients, documenting examinations, diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up care in accordance with established guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing clear explanations of diagnoses, treatment options, and expectations, and addressing any questions or concerns with empathy and compassion.

PROFESSIONAL & TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
• Medical degree (MD or equivalent) from a recognised medical school.
• Residency training in ophthalmology from an accredited program.
• Board certification or eligibility in ophthalmology.
• Valid medical license to practice in Oman.
• Demonstrated proficiency in diagnosing and managing a wide range of ophthalmic conditions and performing surgical procedures.
• Strong clinical skills, including excellent diagnostic acumen and decision-making ability.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with patients, families, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
