Purpose of Role: The role of Head of Technical Project Management for Weir Minerals Europe has the responsibility for the independent execution of the technical aspects across a portfolio of Managed Projects up-to and including high-complexity, value, risk, strategic importance and according to the contracted deliverables to include projects assigned directly to them & also the projects assigned to their reports.
The primary goal of the function is successful & effective Managed Project contract fulfilment – in this respect, the vision is for the Technical Project Management function to partner alongside the Project Management function to ensure that the key deliverables of the project are realized, particularly relative to contractual scope, schedule & financials whilst taking into account stakeholder satisfaction (both internal & external). Secondary to project fulfilment, the role also has responsibility for supporting effective Bid Development, particularly relative to the development of robust, cost-effective technical proposals.

Key Responsibilities:
Advising on Risks and Lessons Learned: Represent the Technical Project Management function within the Bid Development process to advise on contractual and operational risks, incorporating historical lessons learned from both own projects and those of direct reports.
Supporting Project Kick-offs: Partner with the Project Management team to support customer kick-off meetings and internal cross-functional project kick-offs, ensuring consensus on project scope, schedule, and commercials, and addressing any unresolved issues.
Ensuring Efficient Execution: Collaborate with the Project Management and Supply Chain teams to determine the most efficient technical solutions relative to cost and risk, ensuring successful contract execution that meets customer requirements.
Managing Technical Execution and Documentation: Ensure the technical elements of projects are executed according to the agreed scope, schedule, and budget. Oversee, review, approve, and execute project documentation submissions according to contractual schedules and quality standards.
Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to improve technical project management procedures, processes, tools, and techniques.
Team Development: Support and facilitate the performance and development of direct reports, ensuring alignment with current and future business requirements.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:
Ideal candidate will have a degree in Engineering with preference to Mining.
Ideal candidate will have substantial experience as a Technical Project Manager working in an engineered product, international B2B environment
Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for candidates that have the ability to perform the objectives above.
Proven experience in high complexity, capital equipment/solution driven organization within the mining industry preferred.
Able to recognize the opportunity and to design process improvement on mining equipment and washing plants
Working experience and/or educational background in accordance with PMI/APM//PRINCE2 standards desired
Experience of contract law and commercial terms and conditions desired
Willing and able to undertake travel up to 20%
Fluency in Arabic, English & French is a must. Other languages will be considered as a plus.
