Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist II to join our Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT) group to focus on support of Cell Culture processes. This position in the Product Development Science and Technology (PDS&T) organization supports biologics manufacturing at the AbbVie Bioresearch Center based in Worcester, MA. As part of the PDS&T Biologics organization, our group leads the process technology transfer, optimization, validation, implementation, and continuous improvement for late-stage and commercial manufacturing of therapeutic proteins for AbbVie. We also provide technical support for manufacturing, GMP compliance, and regulatory filing. We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative scientist that can work independently and as part of a dynamic team environment.


Key Responsibilities:


  •  Impact projects predominantly through lab-based activities
  • Cultivate CHO cells in suspension at different bench-top scales (e.g. deep well plates, shake flasks, bioreactors) in fed-batch and/or perfusion modes.
  • Prepare cell culture media following recipes.
  •  Execute experiments following established experimental procedures competently and independently, assisting in the interpretation of results.
  • Troubleshoot experiments and instrumentation
  •  Apply statistical tools for the design and interpretation of experiments. · Maintain clear, accurate, and timely documentation.
  •  Effectively communicate scientific data and concepts to internal audiences through reports and presentations.
  •  Learn and understand new experimental techniques, demonstrating ability to modify protocols depending on project need
  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, and GMP compliance.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in biochemical/chemical engineering or life sciences related disciplines with typically 3 or more years of industrial experience; or M.S. in biochemical/chemical engineering or life sciences related disciplines.
  • Proven experience working aseptically in cell culture processes.
  • Proven experience working at bench-top bioreactor scale.

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.​​

  • This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs. ​​
