The Physician Faculty member is part of a team of physicians and staff that work together to create and support excellent education, scholarly activity, patient care, and community service for the department, college, and university.
This full-time position at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine is a non-tenure track appointment, offering full benefits and rank appropriate to the candidate’s training and experience. There will also be opportunities to engage in administration and scholarly activities, aligned with the candidate’s evolving experience and interests as well as departmental needs.

Academics and Teaching: To participate directly in the instruction and development of clinical learning experience in the 4-year continuum of medical student education. To participate directly in the instruction of medical students within the college through lecture, small group experiences (problem and case-based learning), and bedside as time allows. Topics include but are not limited to basic osteopathic manipulative medicine, clinical skills, clinical decision-making (differential diagnosis) and general medical knowledge. To participate in precepting medical students in clinical settings, by giving formal and informal clinical instruction and supervision. To participate in teaching students of other colleges or graduate programs as requested. To participate in graduate medical education as it correlates with the college. To help with the development of the educational programs of the department and give curricular input to the courses in such a way as to maintain academic standards and quality within the educational programs. To help maintain communication between the department, the administration, and other departments within the college, and other colleges within the university. To help the clinical services of the department in such a way as to maintain quality patient care and educational programs for student rotations.
Service to the College and University:
To participate and serve on committees within the college and the university. To participate in community relations efforts to extend and enhance the visibility and reputation of the Department, the College of Osteopathic Medicine, and the University of New England. To serve on state, regional, and agencies, bureaus, and committees of the profession and specialty or discipline. To comply with UNE and professional standards and regulations including but not limited to HIPAA , OSHA , FERPA and safety training. To perform related duties as assigned as necessary.
Qualifications Board certified physician; Family Medicine or General Internal Medicine preferred; comfort with performance and teaching basic skills in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine is required. Allopathic training will be considered on an individual basis if these skills have been obtained.
Specialty Residency Trained to Practice in an area (preferred) Curricular and teaching experience in formal and informal teaching, and learner supervision and evaluation (preferred) Clinical patient care, and clinical team experience Experience in bedside clinical teaching/precepting (preferred) Exceptional written and oral communication skills Outstanding leadership, teaching, and clinical skills Have or be eligible for Maine licensure to practice
