Job Description:
The Project Engineer will be responsible for managing the reconstruction and rehabilitation of houses that have been totally or partially damaged. The role involves overseeing all civil engineering aspects of the project, ensuring high-quality standards, compliance with safety regulations, and timely completion. By working closely with stakeholders, the Project Engineer will contribute to restoring homes and supporting community recovery in the aftermath of conflict or disaster.
Technical Assessment and Planning
- Conduct assessments of damaged houses to determine the extent of reconstruction or rehabilitation required.
- Prepare detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Develop technical designs and specifications in line with organizational standards and local regulations.
Project Implementation
- Oversee all construction and rehabilitation activities, ensuring adherence to plans, specifications, and timelines.
- Supervise construction teams, contractors, and labourers to ensure quality control and safety compliance.
- Ensure materials and equipment are procured and delivered on time to avoid delays.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Regularly inspect project sites to monitor progress, identify challenges, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of project activities, including daily site reports and documentation of completed work.
- Prepare and submit regular progress reports to the supervisor and stakeholders.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Collaborate with local authorities, community leaders, and beneficiaries to ensure smooth project implementation.
- Act as a liaison between the organization and contractors, resolving issues and ensuring alignment with project objectives.
Compliance and Safety
- Ensure all construction activities comply with local building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Promote and enforce safety protocols at project sites to prevent accidents and injuries.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction, rehabilitation, or related civil engineering projects.
- Experience working on housing reconstruction or rehabilitation in post-conflict or disaster contexts is an advantage.
- Bachelor Degree in Civil, Industrial, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering
- Member in Lebanese Order of Engineers and Architects
- Strong technical knowledge of construction and civil engineering principles.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, designs, and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and other relevant engineering tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
