Mission

     Responsible for the establishment and implementation of a strategy designed to achieve the sustainable growth of Azelis’s business in the segment designated market sectors throughout the Azelis perimeter of Africa and the Middle East


     Expected to either possess, or to acquire over time, an in depth understanding of the industries served, together with a full appreciation of the applications operated by the customers who consume the products sold. Reinforce skills by establishing close working relationships with both the key suppliers and key customers of the segment with a view to understanding their strategy and evaluating their strengths and weaknesses. Understand the strategies and capabilities of key competitors as they may impact upon the business of the segment both now and in the future. Work closely and communicate effectively with the business managers of the segment in MEA in order to ensure that all concerned understand the strategy that should be applied to each individual and has a clearly established plan for its implementation.


Main Accountabilities   
  • Establish and implement a plan which delivers growth objectives, consistent with Group policy, for each subsidiary and the countries in which they operate.
  • Deliver the plan in terms of sales growth, income and profitability.
  • Where applicable, negotiate objectives and targets with key suppliers to the segment.
  • Expand the reach of the segment by increasing the number of suppliers represented, by extending the territories and product ranges of existing suppliers and, where applicable, entering new market segments.
  • Focus on building and maintaining a constructive and healthy business relationship between the suppliers to the segment and Azelis Group. This is of critical importance where key suppliers to the Group are concerned and where the Senior Market Segment Manager should provide the key point of contact between the supplier and the Azelis group.
  • To report against these objectives and other key performance indicators, as required, to the MEA Executive Committee, and to the Managing Director MEA during the quarterly meetings.
  • Set clearly defined annual objectives with all internal concerned Parties including General Managers, Business Managers & Commercial Managers and to monitor progress through quarterly reviews with the commercial teams.
  • Travel extensively throughout the Azelis network within MEA, ensuring regular visits to the major subsidiaries; with a view to gaining an understanding of local markets, visiting key customers, conducting business reviews with local managers and supporting and directing them.
  • Directly manage and become actively involved in the management of key customers.
  • Oversee and participate in the annual Azelis budget process, working in conjunction with local managers and regional supervisors.
  • Oversee and participate in the negotiation and presentation of annual sales targets with key suppliers, working in conjunction with local managers.
  • To work in conjunction with the finance department to monitor and manage the financial elements of the segment within Group norms, with particular attention to working capital demand.
  • To report on the above, as required, to the MEA Executive Committee, and to the Managing Director MEA during the quarterly meetings.
  • To compile, using input provided by Azelis shared service departments, quarterly and annual reviews of all business aspects of the segment, whether quantitative and qualitative.
  • M&A Targets
  • Ensure that the segment is adequately resourced in order to cover the constituent market segments within the territory.
  • Lead the segment by example and instil into the team a sense of corporate discipline and compliance to Group standards and rules.
  • Coordinate the creation and maintenance of a supplier / product matrix by country for the suppliers to the segment.
  • Coordinate the creation and maintenance of a customer mapping by country for the suppliers to the segment. And the development of a pipeline by country for the suppliers to the segment.
  • To work in conjunction with Legal to ensure that the business of the segment is properly protected by means of appropriate contracts of representation.
  • To attend major trade shows applicable to the business of the segment.
  • To work in conjunction with the marketing department to identify those exhibitions in which the segment will participate.
  • To work in conjunction with internal communication and marketing teams in order to present a coherent and consistent segment strategy both internally and externally.
  • Participate in seminars arranged by the segment aimed at presenting the strengths of Azelis to both existing and prospective suppliers.
Skills and Qualifications
  • University Degree in Chemical studies.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in operational management in the chemicals industry.
  • International experience/exposure a must.
  • Ability to develop, promote, and recommend innovative solutions to problems and issues that arise, or to proactively recognize and implement changes before problems occur.
  • Excellent networking and influencing skills, able to build credibility at all levels in a matrix organization.
  • Sense of ownership and drive (problem solver, self-starter with a bias for prompt action and removing roadblocks, accountable to get things done in a timely manner).
  • Ability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and direction.
  • Hands-on mentality and proactive attitude;
  • Fluent in English and French.
