Database Systems Administrator

Job Summary

The Database Systems Administrator is tasked with offering technical expertise in database design, development, implementation, administration, and information storage and retrieval. He/she are responsible for ensuring the efficient and secure performance of software while providing technical support to users and IT personnel.

Responsibilities

• Assists collection of business requirements using interviews, document analysis, and workflow analysis, to express requirements clearly and succinctly.
• Provides information and feedback on suitability during the approval process for database specifications to ensure all agreed standards and protocols are followed and data integrity is preserved.
• Tests databases and associated products to validate their suitability for use and alignment with customer requirements.
• Assists with implementation of required security measures, such as firewalls or message encryption, monitoring performance to notify security experts of any problems. Supports both internal and external audit requirements and conducts regular user security reviews across various systems.
• Drafts and maintains basic documentation of technical implementation, incorporating the creation of backup knowledge-based articles (featuring the latest solutions and Q&As) for immediate recovery in case of issues.
• Operates data management systems to access specific information as and when required.
• Monitors and reports on distribution of database resources and provides physical modeling and design services to tune database applications for optimum performance.
• Upholds a data recording process/system, performing functions such as data archiving and updating.
• Operates routine website/applications software tests and respond to user emails to monitor, diagnose, and correct performance issues.
• Provides technical support to corporate users on site and remotely to ensure proper functioning and integrations with legacy systems.
• Implements predefined technical analysis and feasibility studies of user’s needs and propose integrated solutions with existing business applications.
• Develops knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct to ensure own work adheres to those standards.

Language Proficiency

• Fluency in English.

Technical Skills

• Database experience (SQL or Oracle) with strong knowledge in T-SQL querying.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or a related field.

Experience

• Two to four years of experience in SQL server, Visual Studio development and administration tools or similar role.
