The IOM office in Kuwait was established in 1991.
Mandate and Roles: IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It plays a key role in supporting the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through different areas of intervention that connect both humanitarian assistance and sustainable development. IOM Kuwait works in close partnership with the Government of Kuwait on migration governance, including strengthening the capacity of relevant national counterparts on the protection of victims of trafficking. The mission also mobilise resources for humanitarian programs around the world.

National UN Specialist Volunteers in Kuwait are entitled to:
- Monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) in the amount of KWD 799.41
- Entry Lumpsum USD 400
- Annual and learning leaves;
- Free Medical and life insurance; and - Free access to different learning platforms.
Task description
Under the overall guidance and direct supervision of the Chief of Mission, and in close coordination with for the liaison support staff , ., the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
- Support the mission with any capacity building initiative
- Support liaising with the government counterparts and other relevant stakeholders, on the dissemination of IOM policies and positions including promotion of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM), the migration related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
- Support in the preparation of presentations, infographics, and reports
- Support in conducting analysis of key migration changes and developments in Kuwait Support in reaching out to the private sector and promotion of Islamic Philanthropy Fund –
- Support in administrative tasks including preparation of meeting minutes
- Perform other related tasks/duties as required.

Nationality
Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment.
Requirements
Required experience
3 years of experience in (up to 5) in the UN or demonstrated interest Progressively responsible administrative or programme experience on development issues preferably on issues related to sustainable development is required at the national or international level.
Other desired/mandatory required technical knowledge;
•Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
•Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;
•Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;
•Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
•Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, among others), email, and internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
•Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
•Have affinity with or interest in X (fill in relevant area of the host agency’s work), volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN system.

Required education level
Bachelor degree or equivalent in Economics or Social Sciences, Business or Public Administration and Political Sciences, or related field will be given due consideration.
