MEP Engineer

United Projects for Aviation Services Co. (UPAC) is seeking a dynamic MEP Engineer for its new Messila Beach Project .The ideal candidate for this position should be a highly skilled and experienced MEP Engineer capable of overseeing the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within a resort and entertainment facility. The candidate should have a strong background in managing complex systems, particularly those involving water features and aquaparks. This role requires excellent leadership abilities to supervise a team of technicians and ensure the smooth operation of all active components in the facility.

The MEP Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the functionality, efficiency, and safety of all MEP systems, integrating cutting-edge technology and sustainable practices to support a premier guest experience. The candidate must hold a valid registration with the Kuwait Society of Engineers. 

Duties and Responsibilities

Maintenance and Repair:

• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, including HVAC systems, water pumps, and filtration systems.
• Diagnose and repair system malfunctions and failures, ensuring minimal disruption to facility operations.
• Implement preventative maintenance schedules for all systems, including swimming pools, water features, and play areas, to minimize downtime and prolong equipment life.
• Manage and maintain the facility's electrical infrastructure, including lighting, power distribution, and emergency backup systems.
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of plumbing systems, ensuring the functionality of water supply, drainage, and waste management systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair chillers, primary pumps, secondary pumps, all types of water pumps, , chemical dosing, AHU, RHU, FCU.
• Maintain, install, repair, and troubleshoot the complete mechanical, electrical, and plumbing works such as D.G. sets, ATS and Electrical panels, Fire alarm systems, firefighting systems, Sump pumps, Irrigation pumps, and Lifting pumps. Fountains, swimming pool system, access and gate barrier system, audio-visual system, BAS, irrigation system Etc.

Technical Supervision:

• Lead and supervise a team of technicians in daily operations, ensuring they have the necessary tools and training to perform their duties effectively.
• Provide technical guidance and hands-on support to the maintenance team, ensuring all tasks are completed to high standards.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to technicians to promote continuous improvement and professional development.
• Collaborate with line manager and Project Manager to develop MEP system designs that align with project goals and operational requirements.

System Management:

• Oversee the operation and maintenance of all water features, play areas, and aquapark systems, ensuring they are safe, clean, and fully operational.
• Monitor system performance and make necessary adjustments to optimize efficiency and safety.
• Maintain detailed logs and records of all maintenance activities and repairs, including dates, actions taken, and parts used.
• Explore and implement sustainable MEP solutions, including energy-efficient systems, renewable energy integration, and water conservation strategies.

Safety and Compliance:

• Ensure all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems comply with local safety and building codes, as well as industry standards.
• Stay updated with the latest industry best practices, local regulations, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions to address any identified hazards or non-compliance issues.
• Develop and implement safety training programs for the maintenance team, ensuring all members are knowledgeable about proper safety procedures.

Coordination and Planning:

• Coordinate with other departments, including housekeeping, front desk, and management, to plan and execute maintenance activities with minimal disruption to guests.
• Develop and manage maintenance budgets, including cost estimates for repairs, replacements, and upgrades.
• Plan and schedule maintenance activities, ensuring all systems are regularly inspected and maintained according to the established schedule.
• Assist in the development of long-term maintenance strategies and capital improvement plans.
• Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring comprehensive documentation for as-built drawings and system manuals.
• Prepare technical presentations and reports for project stakeholders, conveying complex engineering concepts clearly and concisely.
• Ensure application of health and safety policies in personal equipment, work environment, and with other staff members.
• Adhere to UPAC’s company policies and procedures, and HSE-related legal compliance and be accountable for following and implementing the Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental international standards (QHSE) related to ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001.

Emergency Response:

• Lead the maintenance team in responding to emergency situations, such as power outages, plumbing leaks, and equipment failures.
• Develop and implement emergency response plans to ensure the safety of guests and staff during crises.
• Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and services when necessary.
