Import Manager (Specialized in Sea and Air Logistics) Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Import Manager specialized in sea and air logistics to oversee and manage the import operations of goods and materials. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient handling of all import processes, including compliance with international trade regulations, managing vendor and carrier relationships, and optimizing supply chain efficiency. This role requires strong leadership, excellent organizational skills, and a deep understanding of global shipping, customs laws, and logistics management. Key Responsibilities- Import Operations Management: - Oversee the end-to-end import process for sea and air shipments, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods. - Manage all documentation related to imports, such as bills of lading, air waybills, commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin. - Customs Compliance and Regulations: - Ensure compliance with international trade laws, customs regulations, and country-specific import requirements. - Coordinate with customs brokers and clearing agents to ensure proper clearance of goods. - Vendor and Carrier Management: - Build and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, airlines, freight forwarders, and other logistics service providers. - Negotiate contracts, rates, and terms with carriers to optimize cost efficiency and service quality. - Supply Chain Coordination: - Collaborate with internal departments, including procurement, warehousing, and inventory teams, to align import schedules with business needs. - Monitor shipment tracking and address any delays or issues promptly. - Team Leadership: - Lead and mentor the import team, setting clear objectives and ensuring high performance. - Provide training on import regulations, processes, and industry best practices. - Cost and Performance Optimization: - Analyze shipping costs and identify opportunities to reduce expenses without compromising service quality. - Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of import operations. - Problem Resolution: - Address and resolve any issues related to damaged goods, shipment delays, or discrepancies in documentation. - Develop contingency plans to mitigate risks in the import process. ---Key Skills and Qualifications - l- Proven experience (5+ years) in managing sea and air import operations within a logistics or supply chain environment. - In-depth knowledge of international shipping regulations, customs clearance, and freight forwarding. - Strong negotiation skills with carriers, freight forwarders, and vendors. - Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple shipments and deadlines simultaneously. - Proficiency in logistics software and tools (e.g., ERP systems, shipping management platforms). - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail. - Leadership experience with the ability to build and manage a high-performing team. - Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with internal and external in a fast-paced, global logistics environment. ---If you are an experienced and proactive professional with a passion for managing seamless import operations, we encourage you to apply and join our dynamic team.
