Overview

***This position will be physically located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP***


Position requires thorough knowledge of engineering design, engineering techniques, exceptional leadership and project managements skills. Responsible to manage the engineering, inspection and surveyors’ teams. Utilize best practice engineering methods and provides expert technical guidance for engineering initiatives. Run all the engineering activities within the organization and make sure these are aligned with the established policies and objectives of Vectrus. Plan and conduct independent work, requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Devise new approaches to problems, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, Vectrus Safety Procedures and ASG-KU Standards.



Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance to engineering, inspectors and surveyor’s teams
  • Direct and manage inspections for construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, operational safety standards and customer requirements.
  • Review detailed designs.
  • Provide advice and resolve creatively any emerging problems/deficiencies.
  • Oversee and mentor staff and liaise with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Comply with guidelines and regulations including permits, safety etc. and deliver technical files and other technical documentation as required.
  • Implementing best practice engineering methods.
  • Inspect completed installations and observe operations, to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards.
  • Support establish of organizational objectives by developing goals and strategies.
  • Compile data and write reports regarding existing and potential civil studies and projects.
  • Assessing the potential risks of specific projects, as well as undertaking risk management in specialist roles.
  • Generating Statements of Work and reviewing Subcontractor Technical Proposals for accuracy and acceptance.
  • Assist and/ or confer with engineers, customers, and others in developing programs for new projects or plan existing major repair projects.
  • Direct and/or participate in job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data.
  • The analysis for the approval or disapproval in writing of submittals and materials. In case of disapproval, follow-up with the relevant department to reach the correction of the deficiency found.
  • Shall work special projects as assigned.
  • Performs other duties and assignments as required.

Qualifications
  • Minimum Education:
    • BS/MA in a relevant engineering discipline.
    • Must possess a driver’s license from country of origin for the purpose of obtaining a Military or Kuwait driver’s license.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 10 years’ experience relating to engineering managerial experience.
    • Five (5) years specialized experience operating managerial activities.
    • Ability to demonstrate and provide leadership and collaboration in diverse experiences to address operational methodologies in project planning and management and customer service PMP Certification.
  • Skills:
    • Knowledge of building mechanical codes, local Host Nation Codes, International Building Code (IBC)
    • Research UFC, US Army or other codes from standards as required by projects.
    • Technical competence
    • Strong numeracy and IT skills
    • Attention to detail, combined with the ability to oversee small and large projects
    • Excellent communication and team working skills
    • Knowledge of relevant legislation
    • Negotiation and leadership skills
    • High competency and demonstration of engineering skills.
    • High level of analytical and research skills translated and clearly expressed in written documents ranging from correspondence, statements of work, white papers and contribution to policy development.
    • A creative approach to problem-solving
    • Must be proficient in the use of MS Office (Word, Power Point, Excel and Outlook.
    • Candidate must possess professional interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently, in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
    • Must have strong organizational and planning skills and manage workflow efficiently and accurately.
    • Capable of effectively communicating technical information in English, both written and verbal.
    • Knowledge of sustainable design practices
  • Physical Requirements
    • Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
  • Visual Acuity
    • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.

    • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

    • The worker is subject to vibration. Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.
    • The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
