TITLE: DEAN OF STUDENTS
REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL OR DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
Primary Purpose:
The Dean of Students is responsible for managing department staff as directed by the Principal. Responsibilities include program management, discipline, and professional development on classroom management and implementation of procedures and guidelines for an ISS program.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Providing supervision and evaluation of all department staff in regards to classroom management procedures, providing follow-up and evaluation, and maintaining appropriate documentation.
- Meeting with parents who have concerns about programs or teachers with regards to discipline and behavior management issues.
- To keep the administrative team and school Superintendent apprised of all relevant and pertinent issues.
Student Control and Supervision:
- Establish a climate in which students can develop self-discipline.
- To have disciplinary authority over each student while on school premises, while riding on school buses, and while taking part in authorized school activities.
- To have authority over activities sponsored and conducted by the student organizations of the school under the direction of the Principal.
- Be responsible for the supervision of students and student activities in the school buildings, on school grounds, or involved in field trips or other student activities sponsored by the school.
- Work closely with the admin team.
- Monitor students arriving and leaving times from school paying special attention that no pupil is allowed to leave the school grounds for any reason unless being picked up by a parent or driver. Prior permission has been given to the following office procedures.
- Daily lunch duty in the cafeteria to manage student behavior and/or lunch detention duty
- Other duties assigned by the Principal or management.
Qualifications:
- Native English speaker preferred.
- Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and employees.
- Have a strong understanding of higher education institution policies.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Computer literacy skills.
