To support us with this important responsibility the International Office CEE/CIS/ME is looking for a committed:Sub-Regional Safety and Security Advisor (f/m/d)Location:Amman/JordanDuration: Limited Contract – 12 Months (with potential for renewal)Purpose of the position:The purpose of this position is to provide technical leadership in security risk and crisis management through strategy, policies and resources to support Member Associations (MA).Tasks and Responsibilities: Develop and implement the regional Safety & Security strategy for MA Palestine, taking into account context, culture, existing business process, budget and strategic direction. Key focus is building the internal capacity of staff within MA Palestine so they reach self-sufficiency. Provide day-to-day security leadership to MA Palestine support the response and resolution of security incidents and crises. Secondarily, support the Regional Safety and Security Advisor as needed with building security capacity, providing expert leadership and guidance during crisis times with other Member Associations in the sub-region. Support the Regional Advisor’s implementation of the Travel Safety process for Palestine. Apply global strategies and integrate these into regional business processes including a Kidnapping Prevention and Response strategy and the Travel Safety program. Support the Regional Advisor to expand and extend the competence of Security Managers and Security Focal Points in the sub-region. Ensure adequate communication on security issues regarding MA Palestine and, where needed, across the program locations. Provide technical advice and respond to training needs to develop MA staff safety and security competencies in Palestine and elsewhere in the sub-region as needed. Undertake regular security assessment missions to all locations in Palestine, both West Bank and Gaza. Monitor the reporting and data gathering of security incidents and generate analysis/reports on security trends. Build a professional culture of candor and integrity in every interaction. Build a professional network in the region through OSAC and other organizations enabling benchmarking and information exchange. Maintain effective working relationships with key external stakeholders in the sub-region. Live the humanitarian values (neutrality, impartiality, independence & humanity) in interactions with stakeholders. Serve as acting regional security leader during vacation periods. Be on-call during agreed-upon evenings, weekends and holidays to enable rapid support for urgent travel and crisis response. Have a working knowledge of Palestine, the ability to enter Palestine, and know the INGO entry system for Gaza.Requirements: A university degree (BA, BS or equivalent) in a relevant field including Risk Management, International Affairs or Humanitarian Studies. Minimum 5 years working experience in the field of Security. Knowledge of functional leadership in regional and national organizations. Fluency in English and Arabic. strong integrity, emotional intelligence and communication skills. Strong analytical and organizational skills. Positive working attitude and ability to work under high pressure. Ability to work in an international setting – multicultural environment.
