Established in 1951, IOM is a leading inter-governmental organization providing services to governments and migrants in the field of migration. With its 173 member States and offices in more than 100 countries, IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. IOM actively participates in the inter-agency coordinated humanitarian and resilience responses to the diverse impacts of the protracted Syria crisis. The armed conflict in Syria has resulted in humanitarian and development consequences well beyond Syrian borders. Over 5.5 million Syrians have taken refuge in neighbouring countries, including Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, Iraq and Egypt. As of August 2024, 624,499 Syrian refugees are registered with UNHCR in Jordan – 81% of which live outside camps. Jordan also hosts 68,669 refugees from other countries such as Iraq, Yemen, Sudan and Somalia.
Under the overall supervision of Chief of Mission and Head of Programmes, and the direct supervision of Protection Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting refugee response in Jordan with CBI programming and specific protection interventions.
