or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
ROLE PURPOSE:
Based in Amman-Jordan or in Damascus-Syria, the New Business Development Coordinator will support the the New Business Development Manager and the Resource Mobilization and Business Development Director to help grow Save the Children’s (SC’s) funding and partnerships at country level to adequately resource the Country Strategic Plan (CSP) for the Syria Response Office (SRO).
To achieve the country’s programme ambitions in line with SC’s Global Breakthroughs, the New Business Development Coordinator will be responsible for the proposal development processes from start for finish, and ensuring the final product is responsive, competitive, and timely, while capturing the needs and meeting donor requirements. S/he will be responsible for working with the Technical Advisors, Operation leads, Finance, Risk and Compliance and Awards teams to coordinate the proposal design process for submission to the donor. The New Business Development Coordinator will be responsible for inputting into the capture planning and continuous learning processes where applicable, as guided by the New Business Development Manager.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and adjust their working hours as needed.
SCOPE OF ROLE:

Key working relationships: Ensures appropriate coordination between Country/Response Office and Area Office teams, Technical Experts/Operations, PDQ Director, Finance, Awards, Human Resources, Supply Chain, Partnerships, and other necessary stakeholders to establish and execute a strong proposal development process.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Proposal Development
- Lead the proposal development process for funding opportunities with Technical Experts,MEAL, Operations), Awards, Finance and other relevant team members.
- Produce proposal development schedules,track timelines, and faciliatate coordination amongst teams on proposal documents and internal proposal tools .
- In collaboration with NBD Manager, Member Offices, and Regional Office, actively seek information on donor requirements, compliance guidance, and other resources to support proposal development needs.
- Collaborate with the Finance team and other stakeholders to review and finalize proposal budgets that are competitive and aligned with donor requirements.
- Draft key sections of the proposals– such as capacity statements, country context, and program experience, while drawing on the expertise of relevant team members.
- Review and copy/edit proposal narratives and other proposal documents prior to submission and coordinate necessary revisions with the relevant proposal team members.
- Support proposal design processes including, supporting facilitation of in-person and online proposal design workshops, including developing work plans and lessons learned.
- Coordinate and lead on all internal approval processes on the country-office level and with the Member offices prior submission
- Ensure full internal, Member, and RO review and sign off as per the proposal development
process.
- For all assigned opportunities and proposals ensure all documents required by the donor are well
written and logically structured.
- For all assigned proposals ensures language is in-line with donor priorities and reflects organisational understanding of specific sectors.
- Work closely with SRO Operations Teamsto ensure they are engaged in the proposal development process and consulted for feasibility of project deliverables.
- With the support of TAs, MEAL Team, Risk and Compliance, and Operations Team (including
Awards) develop and finalise the necessary supporting documents from the proposal, such
as the Go/No-Go Tool, Risk Mitigation Plan (RMP), PART and AMET.
New Business Development
- Keep track of ongoing proposal processes, and regularly update the pipeline monitoring tool (incl. Pipeline Tracking Tool, Donor Engagement Tool etc)
- Ensure that all appropriate donor and Save the Children resources, templates, and tools are available to relevant staff, as well as a clear understanding of donor requirements.
- Maintains strong knowledge management systems to support intra-country office communication and continuous learning.
- Ensure all proposals and related documents are saved and circulated and work with Awards and Operations teams to share programme results and lessons learned.
- Support the NBD team in preparing for key donor engagement meetings by compiling donor intelligence, briefing notes, and ensuring appropriate follow-up actions
- In collaboration with the NBD Manager, the post holder supports the Director of Resource Mobilization in developing the Country Fundraising Strategy and regularly monitor progress of the implementation of the strategy.
- In the absence of the NBD Manager and the Director of Resource Mobilization, represent Save the Children as a generalist, alongside PDQ and Technical Advisors, in proposal development meetings and discussions.
- Act as Officer in Charge for the NBD Manager when required.

- Provide backstopping support for the NBD Manager, as relevant.
- Support effective and joined-up resource mobilisation for new Emergencies within the country.
- Support funding coordination in the first phase of major regional responses as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
Background in proposal development and coordination required.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Required
• A minimum of 4-5 years of experience in supporting new business development in humanitarian programmes, in particular writing of new grant submissions (proposal and/or concept notes).
- Fluency in English with excellent writing and speaking skills.
• Bachelor Degree in a relevant subject with relevant field experience.
• Excellent coordination and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and negotiate clearly and effectively at all levels.
• Excellent representation, presentation and communication skills.
• Experience in coordinating development of proposals
• Ability to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner.
• Good understanding of monitoring and evaluation mechanisms.
• Ability to work well under pressure and work to deadlines
