Introduction

The ILO has been working closely with the Government of Jordan, employers’ and workers’ organizations, and other stakeholders to advance gender equality and decent work within the framework of the Decent Work Country Programme for Jordan (2025-2027). Important progress has been made to improve the status and working conditions of women, promote a world of work free from violence and harassment, and promote enhanced representation and voice of women in leadership positions.  Important progress has also been made in the areas of care economy which is instrumental to enhance female labour force participation and promote gender equality in the world of work. Examples of developments include the amendment of the Maternity Insurance Regulation and development of the National Framework for Day Care.
