MMC Information Management OfficerThe Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental and nonprofit organization, founded in 1956, that works in more than 40 countries around the world. The MMC is a leading source for independent and high-quality data, research, analysis and expertise on mixed migration. The MMC aims to increase understanding of mixed migration, to positively impact global and regional migration policies, to inform evidence-based protection responses for people on the move and to stimulate forward thinking in public and policy debates on mixed migration. The MMC's overarching focus is on human rights and protection for all people on the move. The three overall objectives of the MMC are: To contribute to a better, more nuanced and balanced understanding of mixed migration (knowledge) To contribute to evidence-based and better-informed migration policies and debates (policy) To contribute to effective evidence-based protection responses for people on the move (programming) The MMC is a global network, with regional hubs in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America hosted in DRC regional offices, and a small central team in Geneva. While its institutional link to DRC ensures MMC's work is grounded in operational reality, it acts as an independent source of data, research, analysis and policy development on mixed migration for policy makers, practitioners, journalists, and the broader humanitarian sector. For more information on MMC visit our website here: The 4Mi data collection initiativeOne of MMC’s flagship project is the 4Mi collects data through in-depth structured interviews, focusing on protection risks and the conditions and experiences faced by people on the move, as well as their motivation for migration . 4Mi fills information gaps around protection and vulnerabilities with a view to informing policy and humanitarian programmatic response as well as enhancing sector understanding and knowledge on migration dynamics. MMC EuropeIn Europe, MMC has been carrying out 4Mi data collection in Italy and Greece and Spain in 2024 and has engaged in a number of other research initiatives and projects, all available . MMC is now conducting longitudinal data collection with migrants in Europe, as well as 4Mi data collection for 2025. Other research themes MMC is focusing on include impact of irregularity, migration decision-making processes and intra-EU mobility. In addition, other topics may arise and the MMC is committed to respond to pressing needs for evidence-based programming and policy development in the region. About the jobAs MMC Europe is starting new research initiatives across the region, the MMC Europe team is currently looking for a highly qualified and motivated Information Management Officer, to strengthen its data management and analysis capacities at the regional level. Based in Amman, Jordan, and reporting functionally to the Research and Data Project Manager for Europe and technically to the Global Information Management Coordinator, the Information Management Officer (IMO) will be responsible for information management and the focal point for data collection platform in the region. The IMO will also participate in analysis and the creation of knowledge products, and contribute to MMC’s information management network globally. Duties and Responsibilities:Information management and data processing Manage data: ensure maintenance of the data collection platform, and that data is safely stored and shared, well organized and retrievable, data protection guidelines are met, and quality is assured. Implement data cleaning and data validation tasks on a weekly basis according to internal procedures Share feedback with relevant project teams after cleaning data to feedback to enumerators, Manage regional ONA platform, under the supervision of the Research and Data Project Manager Serve as a focal point for data management in the region by compiling quantitative data from relevant secondary sources; Support the 4Mi team in preparing and conducting the training of 4Mi enumerators on the questionnaire and the data collection software; Conduct IM and data processing in compliance with internal procedures. Ensure liaison with MMC global team on survey design, coding, processing and analysis SOPs. As EU regional focal point for information management, work with the regional Project Manager as well as colleagues across the network to develop information management tools, and to improve information management and data processing standards in EU. Provide technical support to enumerators Survey design (30%) Responsible for ensuring quality of survey coding and adherence to global standards. Revise the coding of the survey as required, and in line with MMC standards, coordinating with the 4Mi Global Coordinator as relevant. Research, data analysis and creation of knowledge products (30%) In liaison with the regional team, conduct quantitative analysis to create both visual and written material (including maps), for use in presentations, on the MMC website, in 4Mi snapshots, and other products. Lead on the development of data visualisations for 4Mi, including dashboards. Lay out MMC reports according to standard templates. Contribute to dissemination of knowledge products, including the updating of the regional hub’s page on the MMC website. Stay up-to-date on mixed migration dynamics in the region. Required University degree in economics, statistics, information management, information systems, IT or a relevant field with 3-4 years of relevant experience in the tasks and responsibilities above At least 3 years of experience in information management; Experience in electronic data collection for humanitarian/development research: knowledge of XLSForms and experience with Ona or ODK collect; Experience in quantitative data analysis and research: experience using descriptive and inferential statistics and knowledge of relevant programs and/or programming languages for analysis; Proven record in handling and processing large datasets and data cleaning/validation processes; Record of production of written and visual knowledge products based on quantitative data: knowledge of visualisation software (PowerBi, Tableau), including mapping software (ArcGIS, QGIS), and of layout; Experience working in a multicultural environment. Excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail; Good team worker with strong communication skills; Problem-solving skills and interest in innovative solutions; High level of proficiency in English. Desirable Experience in quantitative data analysis: experience using descriptive and inferential statistics and knowledge of relevant programs and/or programming languages for analysis; Knowledge of regional migration dynamics; Experience working with humanitarian actors and international NGOs; Spoken and written communication in French, German, Spanish or Italian an asset.
