ACAPS in the Middle East
To better cover regional analysis needs as ACAPS grows in the Middle East, ACAPS has initiated a regionalization process. This process will drive integration of our analysis capacities at the regional level, covering both country-focused and regional projects. This position is a relatively new role created to support ACAPS regional approach in the Middle East.
Purpose of the position
The Middle East Regional Manager is the lead ACAPS representative for the Middle East, which currently includes projects in Yemen and Syria. The Regional Manager is responsible for developing and delivering on ACAPS Middle East strategy and overseeing the organisation’s work in the Middle East, including delivery of the various analytical workstreams via existing or new projects, line managing team members in the hub, and finally representing and positioning ACAPS vis-à-vis stakeholders in the region. The priority for the successful candidate will be focused on stakeholder/donor engagement, identification of new country/regional opportunities for the development of ACAPS in the region and the set-up of efficient operational processes.
The Regional Manager will be a seasoned leader with proven operational experience alongside a deep appreciation of the impact that accurate, independent analysis can have on humanitarian outcomes.
The Middle East Regional Manager reports to the Chief Operating Officer, with a close relationship to the ACAPS Chief Analyst on the strategy for analysis and quality of analysis production. The Regional Manager will specifically rely on the team’s Senior Analysts for the design and implementation of this strategy and quality assurance.
Critical Interfaces
As an important member of the Extended Management Team (EMT), the Regional Manager will actively participate in EMT meetings and processes. The Regional Manager will maintain strong links with the CrisisInSight Manager to produce our global reports and with the Data Analytics Manager to benefit from technical guidance.
The Regional Manager will work closely with all members of the Regional Hub and the key humanitarian partners in the region to ensure efficient processes and relevant content.
Operate in line with the ACAPS values
ACAPS is a dynamic and independent organisation. We share and strive to maintain the values of agency, candour, integrity, diversity, evolution, ambition, and collaboration in everything we do. The post holder is expected to develop the position in line with these values. The ACAPS values live in the way we manage our teams, create our content and engage with stakeholders.
We are an equal opportunities employer. We are committed to diversity without distinction to age, gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, and physical ability.
Working environment
In ACAPS, we provide an office space for team members to gather, share ideas, and get to know one another. We find that these unscheduled moments of interaction help foster a great culture and allow for more moments of collaborative inspiration. Many of us also work from home or other ‘out of the office’ locations, splitting our time between home office and ACAPS office. We feel going to the office should be something you want to do, not have to do.
