Job Description
Job Summary: The CDM Smith International Development Group is seeking a mid-level drafter for the design of various water and wastewater infrastructure including critical water pipelines, reservoirs and pump stations and a new large size wastewater treatment plant in Jordan. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in design drafting and GIS management for the water and wastewater sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
Drafting and design:
o Create detailed technical drawings and plans for water and wastewater infrastructure projects using CAD software
o Perform quantity take offs and dimensional calculations.
o Define land acquisition requirements utilizing the land and survey department drawings
o Identify potential constructability or operational issues during design to improve functionality
o Collaborate with engineers and project managers to develop accurate and precise designs.
o Review design drawings and plans prepared by subcontractors to ensure alignment with project requirements and CDM Smith quality standards.
o Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations as well as CDM Smith standards.
o Ability to prepare 3D models in CAD for project facilities (i.e., reservoirs, pump stations, treatment plants).
o Detect clash in water/wastewater infrastructure using BIM software
GIS Management
o Manage and maintain GIS databases related to water resources and infrastructure.
o Perform spatial analysis and generate maps to support project planning and decision-making.
o Integrate GIS data with other project data to provide comprehensive insights and facilitate interdisciplinary coordination.
o Ensure that the GIS database is consistently updated and accessible to relevant project teams
Project Support and Documentation
o Provide drafting and GIS support to assist in the planning, design and execution of water and wastewater management projects.
o Provide technical support and expertise in drafting and GIS to project teams.
o Conduct field surveys and data collection activities to gather information for design and planning as needed.
o Maintain accurate records of all drafting and GIS activities and ensure compliance with internal documentation standards.
o Collaborate closely with senior BWI and CDM Smith project staff, engineers, international subject matter experts, subcontractors, drafters, and technicians, to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget.

Minimum Qualifications
• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field including good mathematic skills.
• Minimum of 10 years of proven experience in water/wastewater pipeline design drafting and design drafting for water/wastewater infrastructure such as water reservoirs, pump stations and treatment plants.
• Previous experience in managing and maintaining GIS databases, with a strong understanding of spatial analysis.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS).
• Experience working in Jordan/ Middle East
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities to work closely with engineers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative and dynamic environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Must be good in spoken and written English.
• Must be fluent in Arabic; a native Arabic speaker is preferred.
