Job Purpose
Guide and support the creation of creative mechanical designs, offering technical help, direction, and project coordination to make sure mechanical systems and components are successfully developed and put into action. Key Accountability Areas
Conceptualization and Design Development:
- Generate creative and practical design concepts based on project requirements.
- Develop detailed engineering designs for mechanical systems and components.
3D Modeling and Simulation:
- Utilize advanced 3D modeling software to create detailed design models.
- Conduct simulations to validate and optimize mechanical designs.
Material Selection and Analysis:
- Select appropriate materials for mechanical components, considering factors like strength, durability, and cost.
- Conduct structural and thermal analyses to ensure the integrity and performance of designs.
Prototyping and Testing:
- Collaborate with prototype teams to bring designs to life for testing and evaluation.
- Analyze test results and refine designs based on performance feedback.
Design Documentation:
- Create comprehensive design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and design analysis reports.
- Ensure that all design documentation adheres to industry standards and company guidelines.
Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams:
- Work closely with electrical, software, and other engineering teams to integrate mechanical designs into overall product development.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for design optimization and cost reduction.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to incorporate the latest advancements into designs.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure that all mechanical designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with regulatory affairs teams to facilitate product certifications.
Project Management:
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, adhering to deadlines and project milestones.
- Provide regular project updates to stakeholders and project managers.
Innovation and Problem Solving:
- Encourage and contribute to an innovative design culture within the engineering team.
- Address and solve design-related challenges efficiently and effectively.
Cost Estimation and Budget Adherence:
- Collaborate with project managers to estimate costs associated with mechanical designs.
- Adhere to project budgets while maintaining high-quality design standards.
Technical Support:
- Provide technical support to manufacturing, quality assurance, and field service teams.
- Resolve design-related issues that may arise during the production or operational phases.
