Power Systems Planning Engineer (Data Collection Team)

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Power Systems Planning Engineer to join our partner company's team in Iraq. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience in power systems modeling and simulations (HV & MV), and will have previous experience working in Iraq.
The role requires the ability to undertake and develop computer models for the country's existing power system and network expansion options to align with various generation expansion plans and forecast demand growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Power System Modeling: Undertake computer modeling of the country's existing power system down to the power grid station level using available tools with the client (400kV, 132kV, and 33kV busbars) and analyze constraints.
• Network Expansion Modeling: Develop and conduct computer modeling of network expansion options to align with various generation expansion plans and forecast demand growth using available tools with the client.
• Simulation and Analysis: Perform detailed simulations and analyses to support planning and decision-making processes.
• Technical Documentation: Prepare comprehensive technical documentation and reports based on modeling and simulation results.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other engineers, planners, and stakeholders to ensure alignment of power system planning efforts with overall objectives.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest advancements in power system modeling and simulation tools and techniques to continuously improve planning processes.

Qualifications

• Having previous experience working in Iraq.
• University degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in power system planning and analysis.
• Fluency in Arabic and proficiency in English are required.
