PENDING CONTRACT AWARD
Summary Perform non-destructive inspections using various industry-approved methods on aircraft structures, components, sub- components, and appliances to detect defects not normally visible.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Interpret or evaluate test results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, or procedures Interpret the results of all methods of non-destructive testing (NDT) such as, electromagnetic, leak, liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, ultrasonic, and visual testing Select, calibrate, or operate equipment used in the non-destructive testing (NDT) of products or materials Identify defects in solid materials using ultrasonic testing techniques Prepare reports on non-destructive testing (NDT) results Conduct liquid penetrant tests to locate surface cracks by coating objects with fluorescent dyes, cleaning excess penetrant, and applying developer Document non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, processes, or results Produce images of objects on film using radiographic techniques Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Qualification of personnel shall be based upon demonstration of satisfactory performance as determined by the responsible NDT Level III Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Secret security clearance. In order to obtain a secret clearance, qualified candidates must have US Citizenship. Ability to pass physical screening requirements
Education and/or Experience
High School diploma or GED. Level II experience in NDI position Level II experience as a LEVEL II Penetrant (PT), Magnetic Particle (MT), Electromagnetic (ET) and Ultrasonic (UT) testing inspector under NAS- 410 Table II, ASNT SNT-TC-1A or ATA-105 Knowledge of fracture mechanics, probability of detection and confidence levels of inspections Working knowledge of aircraft forms and records and standard operating procedures Meets vision requirements per NAS 410 Table V
Work Conditions
Position is located OCONUS and in an austere environment; work is being performed on the flight line, limited hangar or aviation field environment.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and parts, tooling and other awkward items sometimes weighing greater than 50 lbs, including up and down stairs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday. Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
