Title:
HVAC Mechanic
Location – Erbil, Iraq – 12 weeks on/3 weeks off Duration – 5 years + 2 – Facilities Management Operations (FMO)
Applicants must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance for this role, which requires UK Nationality and 5-10 year footprint living and working in the UK.
Please note this is not a tax-free assignment and you will be subject to UK tax for the duration of the assignment.
The Role
KBR is operating as well as maintenance services for existing infrastructure assets across MOD’s operational estates in Erbil, Iraq.
Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act and implement safe systems of work
Impart a thorough understanding of codes of practice, British Standards, and good working practices to the HVAC team
Conduct planned preventative maintenance on all HVAC plant in accordance with SFG20
Arrange for HVAC repairs to be undertaken and satisfactorily completed within contracted timescales
Review HVAC stock holdings, identify deficiencies, and advise the Site Lead of recommended stock levels
Conduct ad-hoc and weekly toolbox talks
Deliver pre-shift briefs and specific task instructions
Ensure document control accountability for all KBR forms used in relation to tasks undertaken on site
Oversee and carry out repairs of HVAC equipment and systems
Produce written reports and updates on various aspects of HVAC operations
What We Need
NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or equivalent/higher qualifications in an appropriate discipline, along with relevant experience
Hold a current refrigerant gas safe handling certification (F-GAS City & Guilds 2079-11)
Experience working with all aspects of ventilation, refrigeration, and air conditioning equipment
Experience with various HVAC systems and pipework installations, including chiller plants, computer room air conditioning, split and packaged type systems, and refrigerated shipping containers
Proven ability to apply good environmental practices in tasks performed, including investigating accidents and incidents, conducting risk assessments and risk control, and complying with UK health and safety legislation
Desirable:
Experience working in challenging remote locations
Ideally hold AP certificates in disciplines such as Confined Spaces, Compressed Gases, and/or Pressure Vessels
Possess an IOSH Managing Safely qualification or similar
Hold a full UK driver’s license
