Summary
The F-16 Fuel Systems Lead oversees and performs all aspects of F-16 aircraft fuel systems maintenance, including the removal, inspection, repair, and installation of fuel tanks and components. In this leadership role, the Fuel Systems Lead coordinates with team members to ensure all maintenance procedures meet operational standards for safety and efficiency in the Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) facility. The Lead manages the workflow, supervises team performance, troubleshoots technical issues, and upholds high-quality standards. A comprehensive understanding of F-16 fuel systems, leadership abilities, and attention to safety and regulatory compliance are essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead and supervise the fuel systems maintenance team, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and providing technical guidance on F-16 aircraft fuel systems, including integral tanks, bladder cells, and external tanks. Perform and oversee the removal, repair, installation, and operational checkout of F-16 fuel systems in accordance with maintenance procedures and policies. Troubleshoot, test, and repair F-16 fuel systems, developing solutions for complex technical issues, and providing support to team members. Inspect fuel tanks and cells for foreign objects, corrosion, cell deterioration, and fungus; perform depuddling, purging, repairs, testing, cleaning, and associated maintenance as required by F-16 Technical Manuals or Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs). Maintain and manage associated fuel system hardware and equipment to ensure operational readiness. Perform and supervise maintenance in confined spaces, adhering to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements. Prepare aircraft fuel system surfaces, apply sealants, adhesives, and chemicals per maintenance procedures, and ensure compliance with material handling and disposal standards. Conduct tests on fuel system reliability and functionality using various testers and diagnostic tools. Provide regular updates and reports on team progress and maintenance status to management, identifying areas for improvement. Support training and development for team members, enhancing skills in fuel systems maintenance, safety protocols, and problem-solving techniques. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Secret security clearance. In order to obtain a secret clearance, qualified candidates must have US Citizenship. Ability to pass physical screening requirements
Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Completion of Technical or Military School Training is desired. Minimum of 7 years of experience in fuel systems maintenance on USAF fighter aircraft. Experience with blueprints, technical manuals, diagrams, and other technical specifications to perform accurate and compliant maintenance. Preferred Qualifications: USAF 7-Level certification in F-16 or related fighter aircraft fuel systems. Current FAA-issued Mechanic certificate with Airframe endorsement. Experience working in an austere environment and performing maintenance in hangar or field
Work Conditions
Position is located OCONUS and in an austere environment; work is being performed on the flight line, limited hangar or aviation field environment.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and parts, tooling and other awkward items sometimes weighing greater than 50 lbs, including up and down stairs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday. Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
