Job Purpose


The Cost Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the ROO Project in Iraq by providing comprehensive cost management services. This role is essential for ensuring projects are completed within budget while meeting quality and schedule requirements. The Cost Engineer will analyze project costs, monitor financial performance, and implement effective cost control measures to optimize resources and ensure project success.


Job Responsibilities


  • Develop and maintain cost estimates and budgets for the ROO Project, ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Monitor and report on project financial performance, including cost variances, forecasts, and trends.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to identify and mitigate potential cost impacts.
  • Conduct regular reviews of project expenditures and provide recommendations for cost efficiency.
  • Prepare cost reports and presentations for stakeholders to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Assist in the evaluation and negotiation of contracts with vendors and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Implement and maintain cost control processes and procedures.
  • Contribute to the development of the project risk management plan with a focus on cost implications.
  • Perform value engineering analyses to enhance project value and cost effectiveness.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide input on cost-related issues and strategies.

Technical Skills


  • Proficient in cost estimation software and tools (e.g., Primavera, MS Excel, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of cost management principles, project controls, and budgeting.
  • Experience with financial modeling and forecasting techniques.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and practices related to cost engineering, particularly in Brownfield environments.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications for accurate cost analysis.

Soft Skills


  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality work.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience in cost engineering, preferably in Brownfield projects.

Work Environment


This role will be based on-site in Iraq, involving direct engagement with local and international teams.
