To supervise the daily operations of the team and ensures strict compliance with product quality assurance, equipment and procedural standards, health and safety protocols, medical equipment staff training and education, as well as engineering specifications.
Manage BME project execution, resource deployment, and overall coordination efforts to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
Establish and actively manages all BME project and key stakeholder expectations and relationships manage deliverables from all functional teams ensuring they meet the defined timeline and quality based on project guidelines.
Provide input into the development and implementation of the BME project’s policies, systems, processes, and procedures, identifying potential areas of improvement, to support an efficient and effective operation.
Assures that the BME equipment remains in compliance with the medical facility's standards and best practices.
Consistently consults with the medical staff, instructing them on the operation of equipment and any issues regarding its functionality.
Also serves as a consultant to management during the procurement of new medical equipment. And evaluates equipment and makes recommendations regarding purchase or rental.
Maintains a comprehensive program of inspection, preventive maintenance, and repair for mechanical, electrical, and patient care support equipment during and after projects
Maintains knowledge of current best practices for hospital engineering and equipment.
Ensures that safe work practices are implemented and adhered to by departmental staff and outside service agencies and contractors during project implementation
Maintains a positive working relationship with all Hospital staff, governmental and non-governmental regulatory agencies, outside
service agencies and contractors
Recommend an optimum organization structure for the Biomedical Projects Unit.
Collaborate with Human Resources in the development of the Biomedical Engineering Projects Unit’s manpower plan to ensure
timely and best-of-class delivery of tasks.
Prepare and recommend the Biomedical Engineering Unit’s budget in alignment with the respective annual business plan and
ensure proper cascading into departmental budgets.
Oversee the ongoing safe and efficient operation of equipment and services including air-conditioning, humidification, domestic
hot and cold water, compressed air, electrical distribution systems, emergency power, and hospital equipment.
Oversee the initial safety inspection of all new equipment.
Ensures that a comprehensive program of scheduled preventive maintenance is in place and implemented for all building services
and, that sufficient service documentation and replacement parts/supplies are in place to enable timely service and repair of such
equipment.
Handles safety management, security management, hazardous materials and waste management, emergency management, fire
safety, medical equipment management, and utility management.
Participate in hospital quality programs and be a member of quality committees if chosen.
Assist clinics in troubleshooting of non-operational equipment and summits service requests to vendors as needed.
Serve as consultant to management during the procurement of new medical equipment. And evaluates equipment and makes recommendations regarding purchase or rental.
Develop and conduct customer service training programs, plans department budget, and oversees service procedures.
Establish the short and long-term strategy for the Biomedical unit, translate it into business plans with objectives and performance indicators and report on the progress of activities against those plans to measure success to support the achievement of PIH’s strategic objectives.
Build and lead motivated, engaged, and competent manpower throughout the Biomedical Unit, by setting priorities and objectives, managing performance, and providing ongoing feedback and coaching to improve performance. creates and maintains detailed repair records.
