ABOUT THE ROLE The Marketing Technology & Data Team is a Center of Excellence who is responsible for the design, development and execution of the digital, platform and data strategy. This includes the management of the Nielsen corporate website which is used to empower Nielsen audiences with value through content, insights and solutions. Nielsen is seeking a Website developer to be part of this growing team. As a Web Developer, you will be responsible for technical solution design, coding and modifications of the Nielsen corporate website to achieve business goals and objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of WordPress, theme development, plugin customization and best practices for WordPress site optimization.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Requires independent problem-solver with entrepreneurial mindset, capable of managing competing priorities, including feature development and timely bug resolutions.
Proficient in WordPress Block Editor/Gutenberg development using JavaScript and React.
Develop custom plugins, themes and functionality using PHP for WordPress, E-commerce, ensuring scalability, security and performance optimization.
Develop and maintain frontend components using React.js and Alpine.js to enhance user interfaces and interactivity.
Experience with Google Tag Manager (GTM) and data layers, with expertise in implementing tracking and analytics solutions.
Integrate third-party services, API’s (SAP, PayPal, Stripe) and platforms to Wordpress to meet growing needs of the business.
Work collaboratively with website designers, product manager and web strategist to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Ability to evaluate, recommend, and integrate third-party services like WordPress VIP, Weglot.
Troubleshoot and resolve website issues.
Perform regular updates and maintenance on the website.
Identify and execute solutions to continually improve website performance and functionality.
Implement security best practices to mitigate risks and protect Nielsen.com from vulnerabilities.
SKILLS REQUIRED
3+ years experience in WordPress development.
Experienced in Gutenberg Block development, custom plugin creation, FSE block theme, and WordPress API integration.
Experience with React.js and Alpine.js for frontend development.
Strong PHP skills with expertise in frameworks, OOP, and database management.
Experience working in the WordPress VIP development ecosystem.
Experience in maintaining Dataviz systems integrating Google Sheets, WordPress REST API, and Chart.js, ensuring seamless data visualization and scalability.
Proficient in frontend technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, Javascript and Javascript Frameworks.
Nice to have expertise in WooCommerce development (themes, plugins, APIs).
Experience with AWS is a plus.
Excellent problem solving skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
Version control and continuous integration using tools such as Github, CircleCI.
