Overview:
Transfer Solutions is responsible for driving Mastercard’s expansion into new payment flows such as Disbursements & Remittances. The team is working on creating a market-leading money transfer proposition, Mastercard Move, to power the next generation of payments between people and businesses, whether money is moving domestically or across borders, by delivering the ability to pay and get paid with choice, transparency, and flexibility.
The Product & Engineering teams within Transfer Solutions are responsible for designing, developing, launching, and maintaining products and services designed to capture these flows from a wide range of customer segments. By addressing customer pain points for domestic and cross-border transfers, the goal is to scale Mastercard’s Disbursements & Remittances business, trebling volume over the next 4 years.

The Role:
What’s it all about and what we expect you to do day to day?
• Lead and manage large-scale technical programs (USD $400M+) that span multiple engineering domains.
• Develop strategic plans to support business growth, efficiency, and scalability through effective program execution.
• Define and drive program roadmaps, setting clear goals, timelines, and milestones aligned with business objectives.
• Serve as the primary interface between engineering, product, and executive teams to align on program requirements, resources, and success metrics.
• Partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Operations leaders to prioritize initiatives, address technical dependencies, and resolve potential roadblocks.
• Understands the business strategy and design approaches within product, program or domain with depth to be credible and effective with teams they work with. Can competently and independently represent team’s services.
• Drives simplification in complex architectures/integrations to enable speed of delivery within a program area. Knows when additional technical guidance is required (i.e. from principal engineers and SMEs).
• Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of technical programs, managing scope, timelines, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Establish and manage budgets for the program, ensuring that all initiatives remain within financial limits and align with overall financial goals.
• Drive project governance, status reporting, and proactive risk management to ensure programs remain on track and within budget.
• Establish program metrics, KPIs, and reporting mechanisms to monitor progress, identify opportunities, and make data-driven decisions.
• Collaborate with finance teams to produce regular budget forecasts and updates for executive stakeholders, ensuring financial transparency.
• Lead organizational change management initiatives, ensuring smooth adoption of new processes and systems.
• Maintain effective communication strategies to provide program updates, risks, and dependencies to executive leadership and key stakeholders.
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of technical program managers, setting a clear vision, goals, and development plans.
• Foster a culture of accountability, growth, and continuous improvement within the program management function.
• Empower team members with the skills and resources to manage complex projects while balancing hands-on leadership.
• Plays active role in mentoring and recruiting
• Active participant in the TPM community/guild and a force multiplier - educates the larger community on best practices. Contributions are noteworthy and recognized across the organization.
All About You and What you need to bring:
• Deep knowledge of program management methodologies (Agile, SAFe, Lean) and experience managing complex, cross-functional programs
• Strategic thinker with a growth mindset. Proven ability to lead and motivate teams across geographies, with a demonstrated track record of building and scaling high-performing TPM teams
• Hands-on leader with a strong understanding of software engineering, product development lifecycle, and familiarity with cloud technologies, APIs, and DevOps practices
• Comprehensive understanding of the business domain, the systems, and the products in your space, and understand their accountabilities, boundaries, limitations, scale factors
• Understand reasons behind architectural decisions. Uses technical judgment to challenge and validate assumptions to vet engineering architecture.
• Anticipates bottlenecks, risk and dependencies. Adequately apply agile practices to unblock, ROAM Risks and eliminate dependencies to create flow of work.
• Has skills to conduct product demos and co-ordinate with product owners to drive product acceptance signoffs
• Experience in budget management, financial forecasting, and developing business cases with a focus on ROI.
• Data-driven decision-making skills, with expertise in using program metrics to optimize and scale processes
• Collaborative leader with a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive team culture.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field. 15+ years in program management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in a technical or product-focused organization.
