Job Background/context:
The role forms part of GFT Product Processor Development Team in Pune and supports the Finance Accounting (FAS) application which helps Product Control & Finance Department.
FAS is a multi-currency, multi-firm system which maintains daily, period to date and life to date accounting totals on all finance trades. Included are Repo, Reverse Repo, Letter Repo Bank Loan, BuySellback and SellBuyback transactions. Provides end of day accounting reports for all legal entities to various end users worldwide and end of day reporting to determine the interest component of overall finance matchbook P&L. It utilizes user driven posting scheme logic to generate daily posting feeds of principal cash flow, interest income/expense and payments to General Ledger for selected firms. The application operates on mainframe

The primary purpose of this role is to work on the Leadership and development work for the Product Processor Technology area. This will involve working closely with the business and SMEs to prioritize business requests, manage the development workslate, provide estimate efforts, and ensure timely delivery on committed items and to project manage all aspects of software development according to the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
The role requires the selected candidate to work and lead the development on the Mainframe technologies and at the same time support the systems in the transformation process
Key Responsibilities:
- Understanding Business Requirements and Functional Requirements provided by Business Analysts and to convert into Technical Design Documents and leading the development team to deliver on those requirements.
- Working with the Technical Team in Pune & US/UK supporting the development of the Accounting applications.
- Ensure projects Plans are created and PTS documentation is up to date.
- Work closely with Cross Functional Teams e.g. Business Analysis, Product Assurance, Platforms and Infrastructure, Business Office, Controls and Production Support. Prepare handover documents, manage SIT with oversight of UAT.
- Identify and proactively resolve issues that could impact system performance, reliability, and usability.
- Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of how the development function integrates within overall business/technology to achieve objectives; requires a good understanding of the industry.
- Work proactively & independently to address development requirements and articulate issues/challenges with enough lead time to address risks
- Ability to understand complex data problems, analyze and provide generic solutions compatible with existing Infrastructure.
- Design, Implement, Integrate and test new features.
- Owns success – Takes responsibility for successful delivery of the solutions. Mentoring other developers on their implementation as needed, and organize review activities like design review, code review and technical document review etc. to ensure successful delivery.
- Explore existing application systems, determines areas of complexity, potential risks to successful implementation.
- Contribute to continual improvement by suggesting improvements to software architecture, software development process and new technologies etc.
- Ability to build relationship with business and technology stakeholders.

Person Specification
Knowledge/Experience:
- 13+ Year Software development experience and application support on IBM Mainframe platform operating applications
- Proficient or SME above knowledge, and recent usage with following IBM (z/OS) Mainframe software:
- COBOL z/OS V6R2 or V6R3 or V6R4
- IMS DB/DC
- VSAM
- DB2 QMF, DB2 SQL, COBOL w/ SQL
- JCL
- CICS
- CHANGEMAN
- 5+ Year in Financial Domain experience and knowledge of Financial products.
- Knowledge of Repo and Reverse Repo Products is a plus.
- Knowledge of US GAAP accounting is a plus.
- Experience in Linux/Unix and Shell Scripting is a plus.
- Proficiency with SQL tuning, stored procedure, writing packages, triggers, functions and procedures.
- Experience with data conversion / migration
- Excellent trouble shooting and debugging skills.
- Worked in Onsite - offshore model.
