Amazon MGM Studios, the production and development arm of Amazon, creates content exclusively for Prime Video customers globally. As we continue to drive growth, innovation and excellence within our organisation, we are seeking a seasoned and dynamic Visual Effects Executive to join our team in Mumbai, India and drive the ambitious slate of International Originals across the region. This key role will oversee projects from development through delivery, managing VFX budgets, schedules, planning, and production partners. The role also involves close collaboration with internal teams including Production, Post-Production, Business Affairs, Creative, and Development, as well as India’s leading VFX studios and production talent.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in VFX, combining skills as a proven VFX Producer, VFX Executive, and VFX Supervisor, with a comprehensive understanding of the Indian scripted TV and film landscape. We're looking for someone with strong interpersonal skills and well-established industry relationships.
This Mumbai-based position requires a dynamic, outgoing, and self-motivated individual who can juggle multiple high-priority tasks in a fast-paced environment. The successful applicant will oversee numerous projects in various stages of development, production, and post-production, while engaging frequently with industry professionals. Key job responsibilities
• Manage complex VFX needs for larger series and AOM’s across India region for a diverse slate of programming, reporting to the Head of VFX, International, in line with Amazon MGM's International Originals priorities
• Lead greenlight process support for VFX through collaboration with production, creative, post, business affairs, and finance teams
• Identify VFX approaches, past Vendor performance metrics, and creative insights.
• Develop comprehensive VFX assessments and breakdowns from creative materials, scripts, storyboards, and pre-vis, working with production teams to create effective production plans
• Build and maintain relationships with India's leading VFX vendors and talent, supporting key negotiations and partnerships
• Oversee vendor selection, bid evaluation, and work allocation processes
• Support VFX team recruitment, including VFX supervisors and producers
• Monitor and manage VFX budgets, schedules, deliverables and status reporting with producers and production companies
• Influence VFX roadmaps to support and facilitate adoption of team tools, approaches, and processes.
• Review VFX deliverables to ensure bar raising quality standards are met
• Identify and resolve production challenges while maintaining creative integrity and keeping to budget
• Coordinate with internal teams for marketing, promotional, and publicity needs
• Establish efficient workflow processes between creative, production, and post-production departments
• Act as VFX Producer for development projects when required
• Act as key partner to Amazon MGM cross-functional departments, demonstrating strong stakeholder management skills
• Research and implement emerging technologies to achieve creative goals while optimizing cost efficiencies
• Drive innovation within the production process through effective use of technology to scale and create efficiencies in operations
• Contribute to department database development for project management and talent tracking
• Regularly review metrics and proactively seek out new and improved data/mechanisms. Review data results (e.g., WBRs/MBRs/QBRs, roadmap review, etc.)
• Model Amazon's culture and values, serving as an ambassador for the VFX team and wider business
• Foster and maintain strong relationships with key industry talent and partners across the India along with regional originals in Tamil and Telugu.
- Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures used in one or more of the following domains: VFX, live-action film production, Post-production, and the game technologies
- Experience in working with engineers/developers in tool creation and pipeline development in a VP or VFX environments
- • Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with demonstrated ability to work effectively across cultural and linguistic boundaries in the India region
- • 10+ years of experience in VFX production management roles, ideally within a studio, production company, or high-end vendor environment across the India region
- • Proficient in VFX software and tools with a solid understanding of the VFX production process from script breakdown to final delivery
- • Strong project management skills with a proven track record of managing schedules and budgets, problem-solving production challenges, and delivering creative solutions while upholding quality standards
- • Established and expand network and knowledge of VFX vendors across INDIA.
- • Familiarity with VFX trends and emerging technology, particularly in the India market, with the ability to assess impact on creative, budget, and schedule
- • Strong eye for quality control, with the ability to evaluate VFX work against both creative and technical standards
- • Outstanding organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Knowledge of Unreal in a Virtual Production environment or equivalent
- Experience as a Virtual Production Supervisor
- • Experience with global SVOD delivery workflows and understanding of Indian content distribution requirements
- • Knowledge of Indian entertainment industry standards and business practices
- • Proven experience in digital media workflows and post-production processes across various formats
- • Experience working with production entities, understanding regional requirements and standards
