DTS – Lead, Vendor Governance


The Team:


The vendor Governance team is a part of Digital Solutions and this team manages key S&P Global Vendor relationships and governance; and ensures compliance with S&P Global policy, regulatory & legal requirements as well as the obligations outlined in the Vendor’s Master Services Agreement with S&P Global.

The role


As a Vendor Governance Lead, you will undertake work on a real business project intended to add value to your team and our business, as well as provide you with a great learning opportunity.


This role ensures that the deliverables and obligations outlined in the Managed Services Provider (MSP) contract related to servicing all the Towers/Divisions are properly being supported/managed by MSP (supplier); that the MSP (supplier) resources are well managed; and that the S&P Global stakeholders in all division and towers receive the support required, which includes:


  • Deliver consistency and quality for business teams, clients and supplier partners.
  • Enable governance over all our external spend and support business teams to reduce risk.
  • Broker better deals by leveraging scale, expertise and industry insight
  • Deliver contract, performance, commercial and relationship governance services to drive quantitative value and brand value for S&P

Key responsibilities include:


This role is vital for ensuring the seamless delivery of Digital Solutions to our internal customers, which includes.


1) Reviewing/Auditing SLA’s and SLA Exceptions: Focusing particularly on critical service levels where financial implications are involved, ensuring we maintain compliance and mitigate risks. Educating Service owners on the financial impacts due to unauthorized exceptions and waved SLA misses outside of contractual language. Pulling SLA backup data to compare against what is being submitted by the supplier to see if there is any manual manipulation to the raw data and calculations.


2) Cost and Volume Trend Analysis: Conducting regular analysis for all RUs to track performance and identify trends that may affect volume and costs.


3) Collaboration with Service Owners: Working closely with service owners to raise awareness of their business areas ensuring they have the tools and education needed regarding scope of services and billing methods, so they are in line with contractual terms.


  • Manage and oversee cross-functional teams/projects, coordinating between the internal groups and third-party vendors to establish better processes and transform business functions; from design to release to internal customers.
  • Manage the functional area and program providing direction as needed and ensuring accomplishment of technical and internal customer objectives.
  • Execute project plans ensuring team has appropriate resources to achieve project goals.
  • Encourage and guide suppliers in excelling ecosystem benchmarks, thought leadership and continuous improvements
  • Manage supplier delivery performance working closely with project delivery teams. Supplier service is predominantly agile based project delivery
  • Be able to advise on contracting (commercial models, SLAs, KPIs, location strategy), as required
  • Mange Contract obligation tracking and reporting, leveraging on the state-of-the-art contract management tool
  • Manage Finance related obligations and levers including discounts, service credit, earn backs, etc.
  • Chairs monthly and quarterly governance meetings with supplier and S&P divisional leaders
  • Mange escalations and issues with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications:


  • College degree in Business Administration, Information Systems or equivalent degree
  • 10+ yr. experience with at least 5 in Financial Services or a regulated industry
  • Must have strong Business Analysis skills
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills. Presentation skills a must.
  • In depth knowledge of project management and IT processes (e.g. computerized systems, backup/recovery, testing, disaster recovery planning)
  • Provide guidance on routine to highly complex problems to MSP personnel; analyze possible solutions, weighing the costs and benefits.
  • Ability to work autonomously.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications:


  • 3+ yr. experience working in/with Compliance/Regulatory Affairs, Accounting/Audit, Risk Management,
  • 3+ yr. experience on a global team
  • 3+ yr. direct or indirect supervisory experience
