Your Opportunity
In depth cost modeling - “should-cost modeling” and tear down of products, modules, consumables using cost-modeling software
Analysis of cost structures and value chain or evaluation of functional costs of components in the relevant sourcing markets in cooperation with internal and external stakeholders
Sustainably contributing to the quality and profitability of our products by creating price transparency and identifying corresponding cost reduction potentials
Moderation and execution of cross functional collaborative value camps (CVCs) at key suppliers or Roche manufacturing sites
Pipeline Building And Opportunity Identification - Active contribution in building the cost savings pipeline generation including opportunity identification (cost, design, sustainability and / or value improvement) and driving its related implementation for Diagnostics Direct procurement
Build strong working relationships - Value Engineering requires cross-functional collaboration and support
Provide input into global strategies and plans - The Value Engineer will support projects on request of the business or those initiated by Procurement or Operations. Findings and output of the value engineering work will need to be included in the category strategy work
Project Management - Perform ad-hoc, exceptional/unique or high visibility, BA/BU-specific operational activities when needed due to requirements, or capacity
Supplier Management - This role will also frequently interact with Roche’s key supplier base. The role will be accountable to ensure “one voice to the suppliers” and the deployment of the Diagnostics Supplier Relationship Management (DSRM) toolkit where applicable
Negotiation Support - Provide negotiation support / lead technical negotiations alongside procurement delivery or category teams
Training - Perform continuous professional development activities relevant to the function
Who you are
You hold a bachelor's degree of Engineering (B.Eng. / M. Eng.) and 5 to 7 years of experience in supporting cost reduction and value improvement programs. Preferably, you have a Master's
Interest in a combination of technical and business management issues with a focus on cost and process analyses
Strong negotiation skills and experience, strong stakeholder management in a global matrix structure
Strong project management skills and experience
Self-starter, conceptual, analytical and networked thinking
Basic understanding of contracting
Proficient in the use and training of dedicated should Cost Software
Proficiency in business systems (SAP, Smart sheet, etc)
**Travel requirements: Availability to travel (air and ground both domestic and internationally) for up to 20% of time for various meetings at Roche and Supplier sites
