Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies (CTCT) develops industry leading 2D and 3D machine control solutions for the construction, mining, and paving industries. CTCT is a 50/50 owned, globally distributed JV between Caterpillar and Trimble.
About the position:
The CTCT User Experience team is searching for a UX Designer to assist in the design and development of our Grade Control Applications (GCA) and Grade Control Platform (GCP) products. These systems provide machine operators with in-cab guidance, as well as off-machine tools for technicians, installers, and support.
As a member of a global team of UX professionals, the UX Designer will be responsible for designing layouts and graphical assets for in-cab and off-machine interfaces, as well as providing UX support to Common Services platform teams. Additional responsibilities include light user research, developing prototypes, and user testing/validation of proposed designs.
Job Duties:
Design user experience solutions with a strong focus on user needs and business goals
Collaborate with other UX team members to define objectives for user experience research and design execution
Produce UI/UX deliverables including: design comps, illustrations, graphics/icons, layout specs, and high-fidelity prototypes
Present proposed UX designs to internal stakeholders and subject matter experts for review
Collaborate with Product, Technical, and Design product team leads to ensure proposed UX designs are properly executed
Work within an Agile development environment as a local UX champion in terms of design implementation
Collaborate with a globally distributed customer experience (CX) organization including: User Experience (UX), User Assistance (UA), Translation, Training, and Demo & Sim teams
Switch easily between projects which vary in size, scope, and priority
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in user experience, human-computer interaction, human factors, or similar field of study
At least 5 years of professional experience in UX, HCI, or human factors
Demonstrated knowledge of user-centered design process and best practices
Comfortable working with global cross-functional teams
Skilled in visual design, information architecture, and prototyping
Proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Illustrator, XD, etc.) and/or UX design software (Sketch, Figma, etc.)
Experience with user testing, validation, and/or the iterative design process
Working knowledge of UI frameworks, design systems, component libraries and prototyping tools
Front-end development skills for Web (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) and/or Android (xml, Java, etc.) are nice to have
Geospatial and/or earthmoving industry experience is a plus
Experience with automotive and/or mobile app development is highly desirable
