Travel & Country Security Lead – P4
Description:
The Travel & Country Security Lead will report to the Senior Manager, Global Security in close coordination with the Regional Security Managers, and relevant stakeholders. The role will be twofold, to implement the global travel security and intelligence programs under the direction of the Senior Manager, Global Security and to provide physical security operations support to our India country operations. This role is cross-functional and requires a highly entrepreneurial, motivated, organized, and detail-oriented individual. This role will be based in Bengaluru, India.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing risk and providing operational expertise to help develop several of our physical security program initiatives designed to help create a safe and secure workplace for our employees, operations, and activities across the globe. The position will contribute strongly to the strategy and management of the overall global physical security remit with a primary focus on travel security operations.
The successful candidate will have a deep passion and understanding of physical security and be a subject matter expert with significant knowledge and global experience in travel security, use of open source, tactical and strategic intelligence platforms, physical security technology operational excellence and performance metrics. They will monitor worldwide events in real-time and assess the real and potential impacts upon Illumina personnel, operations, physical assets, brand, and reputation.
Working to the Illumina Global Security Policy, the successful candidate will maintain an active role developing and executing complex security plans for key projects. In addition, they will be responsible for contributing to the formulation and deploying of policies, procedures, operational standards, and other related activities that support campus wide operations of all physical security and safety initiatives and programs.
The successful candidate may serve on various campus wide planning teams for the physical security systems program and provides support for all aspects of program development. policy compliance and site based crisis management
Responsibilities
- Administration of the global travel security function, to include all systems, assessments, communications, vendor and stakeholder management associated with the delivery of a best-in-class travel security service.
- Utilize intelligence resources for travel-related threat information on a global basis, including internet, databases, public records, media, law enforcement, government sources, contracted services, and other related resources; determine local threat environment for travel to moderate-to-high-threat countries
- Work with the Global Security Team and Illumina Security Operations Center (ISOC) to monitor, research, analyze and provide intelligence regarding emerging threats and trends worldwide that may impact Illumina campuses, operations, remote or on campus staff.
- Manage competing program and project areas and maintain ongoing operations, track delivery against program goals and implement proposals.
- Develop and enhance physical security protective strategies across the Illumina India footprint
- Support Illumina Crisis Management operations by providing timely and actionable intelligence in support or emerging crisis, and/or acting as the Indian in-country security representative for all crisis management scenarios and exercises.
- Develop and deliver effective security awareness solutions to staff across the global footprint.
- Evolve effective physical security standards as best practice for Indian locations.
- Lead ongoing analysis of security exposures, evaluate program effectiveness, and develop benchmarking standards and metrics to measure the effectiveness of the India country security function.
- Identify, develop, implement, and maintain Company security processes and asset protection standards across assigned business units to reduce risks, respond to incidents and limit exposure to liability in all areas.
- Interface with other business areas and sectors to accomplish cooperative goals, representing Global Security in multidisciplinary initiatives.
- Build excellent networks with stakeholders internally and suppliers externally to support the delivery of the program.
- Assist in the development and execution of all physical security services, programs, and initiatives across the region.
- Assist with the implementation of employee safety programs that aid in the prevention of threats and violence in the workplace and support our incident response.
- Support regional physical security investigations, in conjunction with regional HR, Legal, and Compliance.
- Liaising with Health and Safety counterparts to create and maintain a safe and healthy work environment
Qualifications
- Experience of working in a travel security or risk assessment function within a corporate environment or government agency.
- Minimum 5 years experience in Corporate Security Industry Law Enforcement/Intelligence Agency.
- Minimum educational requirement of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Experience with the intelligence cycle, including defining intelligence requirements and establishing collection structures.
- Demonstrate fundamental understanding of investigative and intelligence processes
- Understanding of global geopolitical issues and threats to/from various regions of the world and their impact to Illumina’s business
- Ability to adapt to an open, transparent, and highly collaborative corporate culture and effectively balance security with company values and business interests
- Ability to manage in a fast-paced environment, and support the strategic direction of new programs
- Demonstrated strong critical thinking and writing skills with abilities to communicate complex ideas and analysis in a brief, accurate, and relevant way to a variety of audiences up to senior executive management
- Excellent written and verbal communication and report writing skills (English); fluency in a second language preferred.
- Comfortable and confident to work and deliver unsupervised at the same time willing to take on additional work responsibilities and stand in for team members as required, demonstrating dependability.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office.

- Security certification (ASIS APP, CPP etc.), Project Management certification (PMP), or Continuity certification preferred (MBCP, CBCP, etc.)
