Job Description
CDM Smith is looking for an experienced Roadway Design Engineer well-versed with Bentley OpenRoads, and Autodesk Civil 3D tools and handles the project as a Task Manager. The ability to plan and design deliverables against the Middle East and US DOT standards for each stage of the project is a pre-requisite along with coordinating with other disciplines for a well-coordinated design. The Engineer will join our Transportation team in Bangalore and produce concept/ detailed roadway construction drawings and other infrastructure-related designs for various projects. The Engineer receives guidance and instructions from the Senior Project Engineer/Manager and typically performs the work independently or as part of a team. The Engineer may have to interact with onshore PM/Engineers and should address their project requirements on schedule and budget.
Key Competencies/ Skills:
• Task manager of Roadway Design Projects.
• Ability to use, without guidance, design software such as OpenRoads Designer, Autodesk Civil 3D, and ProjectWise.
• Should have hands-on experience in using AutoCAD/ MicroStation for the preparation of design drawings in accordance with internationally recognized standard formats.
• Familiarity with Infraworks / Concept Station or any other 3D visualization software.
• Knowledge of Navisworks/ GuideSign is an added advantage.
• Strong command on BIM360/ digital/ data analytics software as applicable.
• Hands-on experience in the production of plans, profiles, corridor modeling, generation of detailed cross-sections, site grading, and earthwork quantities using design software.
• Knowledge on ADA ramp design and Complete Street designs.
• Should be conversant with preparation of Signage, Markings, and Traffic Control Plans.
• Basic knowledge of Pavement Design and Cost Estimation.
• Basic knowledge on Road Safety Provisions and Design.
• Programing skills are desirable.
• Capable to do review and proof checking of road design related drawings.
• Experience in the preparation of technical reports, progress reports, and presentations.
• Adopt QA/QC procedures as per company policy to ensure complete coordinated designs both internally and across other disciplines are met.
Minimum Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering/Roadway Technology/Highway Engineering.
• Minimum of 12 years of professional experience in the design and documentation of roadway projects.
• Experience in Middle East projects is a must. (preferably Dubai)
• Knowledge of International Roadway Design Guides (AASHTO, DMRB, RTA, QHDM, MUTCD and other similar standards).
• Good organizational skills.
• Proficiency in written and verbal communication.
• Use of problem-solving techniques and systems analysis.
• Understanding of engineering standards, codes of practice, and local authorities guidelines.
