Role Overview:
Tool Room Head is responsible to lead and manage the tool room operations for aluminium dies (10-ton capacity) at the Plant. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of die design, manufacturing and maintenance, along with expertise in precision machining and die-casting processes. This role is crucial in ensuring the development and upkeep of high-quality aluminium die-casting tools to support production excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Tool Room Management & Operations
- Oversee the design, development, manufacturing, and maintenance of aluminium dies (10-ton capacity).
- Plan and execute tooling schedules to meet production and quality requirements.
- Manage precision machining operations to ensure accuracy and durability of dies.
2. Die Design & Manufacturing
- Lead the end-to-end die design process, ensuring high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective tooling.
- Work closely with design engineers and manufacturing teams to develop new dies.
- Ensure the use of advanced CAD/CAM software for die designing and modifications.
3. Die Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs for aluminium dies.
- Identify and resolve die failures, wear & tear issues, and production-related defects.
- Ensure continuous improvement in die life and efficiency through process optimizations.
4. Precision Machining & Quality Control
- Ensure high-precision machining processes for tooling components.
- Work with CNC, EDM, VMC, and other advanced machining technologies.
- Maintain strict quality control standards to ensure high-performance dies.
5. Team Leadership & Training
- Lead and mentor a team of toolmakers, designers, and machinists.
- Drive a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous learning in the tool room.
- Conduct training programs on die design, machining, and maintenance best practices.
6. Process Optimization & Cost Efficiency
- Optimize tooling processes to improve productivity and reduce downtime.
- Manage budgeting and cost control for tool room operations.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to enhance efficiency.
Key Requirements:
Technical Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of die design, development, and maintenance.
- Experience handling large aluminium dies (10-ton capacity).
- Proficiency in precision machining, CNC, EDM, VMC, and CAD/CAM software.
Industry Experience: Preferably from automotive aluminium die-casting or related industries.
Leadership Skills: Strong ability to lead teams, manage tooling projects, and optimize processes.
