Amazon’s OpsTech Design Execution Team are looking for an experienced Program Manager in Telecoms (IT Infrastructure) Design to join the OpsTech Design Execution (ODX) Team. Based in India, you will be responsible for IT Infrastructure design and delivery programs for both new and existing Amazon logistic operations buildings of varying sizes globally. You will influence global best practices and manage the telecoms design delivery for key projects. A key function of this role will be to manage outsourced design team based in India. You will be the technical Point of Contact for this team in to the wider ODX team, provide technical expertise and project support as needed. You will manage their workload, understanding utilization to ensure deliverables are both on time and of right quality. You will bring telecoms design skills to the APAC region, supporting projects from India, to Japan and Australia.
The successful candidate will posses a proven background in IT infrastructure design and consulting. You will be a team player and be able to lead a team to deliver results on time and on budget. You will be comfortable operating in a fast paced and ambiguous environment, having strong judgment and negotiation skills.
This role will be within the highly creative and efficient ODX team who are focused on telecoms design optimization and standardisation. You will partner with other Amazon teams on BIM (Building Information Modelling) integration and design templatization using industry standard tools, such as AutoDesk Revit. You will be adept in Revit and AutoCAD, understanding how to operate a model and implement designs unaided using established templates. You will be agile and be able to effectively multi-task, working on multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously. You will have a successful track record managing projects and programs as well as innovating for your customers.
Key job responsibilities
You must be able to work independently with occasional guidance and work within a team environment to accomplish assigned tasks. This includes working with internal groups as well as external suppliers and consultants, manufacturers, vendors, and contractors. Your duties will include:
* Working with internal teams to manage updating and modifying existing template models and design documents; and assist with creating and maintaining standard regional BIM templates.
* Managing the India-based design team, including workload and quality
* Participate in design coordination meetings with other trades for clash detection and resolution.
* Work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical locations.
* Assist the project team with information exchange processes between internal and external customers.
* Provide coordination support for information requests during launch phases.
* Recording and reporting of key metrics to management.
* Minimum 25% traveling expected

A day in the life
The successful candidate will work on ODX initiatives and goals to optimize the Telecoms Designs for our Fulfilment Center network. You will work with internal Amazon and external vendor design key stakeholders globally to innovate and set standards. You will lead workshops to drive unity to our goals and deliver results. You will be a technical leader and a key point of contact for Telecoms Design technical escalations from within DPM but also the wider business.
About the team
OpsTech Design Execution (ODX) is a design team within Operations Technology Solutions (OTS), and is a current mix of program managers, engineers and technical experts. Our mission is to provide physical telecoms design expertise and module improvements for all our programs across both launch and retrofits programs in order to increase the quality of physical deployments against OTS engineering standards, and reduce post deployment defects.
- 3+ years of technical infrastructure management experience
- Knowledge of best practices and emerging technologies, related to infrastructure (i.e. network, data center, hardware, software)
- Experience with varying scenarios of infrastructure builds
- 5+ years using Autodesk Revit.
