Technical Publications – Senior Technical Lead
Thales India Engineering Competency Center (ECC) in Bangalore is seeking a Senior Lead Engineer – Technical Publications. In this role you will build and lead the local Technical Publications activity. In interface with Aviation Global Services (AGS) TechPubs organization, your team will perform ATA compliant Technical Publications on Aerospace Products and Systems in compliance with company policies/procedure, assuring airworthiness / regulatory requirements.
Qualifications: B.Tech in Electronics / Mechanical / Instrumentation engineering or equivalent with 10+ years of relevant experience. Higher qualifications of Post-graduation is desirable. Technical writer experience in Aerospace industry, producing common Industry Standard Technical Data, producing structured electronic manuals.
Responsibilities:
- Build and perform lead activities, training and guiding local Technical Publications’ personnel in developing, revising Tech Data to deliver consistent results.
- In interface with Work Package Manager, ensure technical documentation meeting established quality, customer standards, budget and schedule.
- Manage workflow within the team and report progress to the Work Package Manager.
- Analyze and manage potential subcontracting activities.
- Apply and share the engineering authoring rules
- Within AGS TechPubs organization, be the focal point for all issues regarding TechPubs tools used in the ECC team (ADAM, Conf management etc.)
- Gather and analyze the released data & technical information from different sources.
- Develop and release Technical documents in accordance with the company policies/procedures, assuring airworthiness / regulatory requirements are met.
- Support multiple technical documentation development concurrently
- Work in a team environment with multiple participants (suppliers, engineering, AGS TechPubs, etc.) and multiple countries (India, US, France).
- Support the maintenance of periodic Key Performance Indicator (KPIs) of the team in delivering technical publications documents
Skills & experience:
- Must have strong experience within Aerospace industry, Civil Aviation Rules, Aircraft documentation, producing common industry standard technical data, and structured electronic manuals.
- Must have experience in leading a team of Technical Publications writers.
- Must have experience to manage risks and opportunities
- Must have the ability to report and alert locally and to the prescriber (Work Package Manager based in the US or in France).
- Must have experience to ensure the reporting progress of the project along with KPI
- Must have experience in managing subcontracting activities
- Must be rigorous, organized, autonomous and proactive, and motivated by a position within a multidisciplinary team.
- Must have demonstrated leadership skills on complex topics.
- Must master systems and TechPubs architecture
- Must have experience of interpreting engineering drawings, software and system level documentation
- Must have experience in using and producing documentations at System (AMM, AIPC, MP, IPD, FIM, TSM, AWD etc.) and Product level (CMM, ACMM, CMP etc.).
- Must have expertise in the industry standards ATA iSPEC 2200, S1000D, ASD-STE 100
- Must have experience of computer skills including the use Microsoft office suite, ERP and Engineering BOM systems
- Must have experience of using TechData Editing tools in SGML, XML or other format (ADAM Author, PTC Arbortext, Notepad etc.)
