Job Summary:
This Tech Lead will be an integral part of the Thermo King Electrical Engineering Team, responsible for the Design and Development of Electrical Subsystems for HVAC & Transport Refrigeration Products and adept at managing complex projects.
This role emphasizes New Product Developments (NPD), Quality Improvement and Productivity Projects, with a strong focus on integrating new technologies and processes across various product lines.
This role requires a blend of Technical Expertise, Project Management Skills, and the ability to Innovate and Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams and External Partners.
Major Responsibilities:
- Develop electrical/electronic solutions for HVAC and transport refrigeration systems.
- Collaborate with internal SMEs and external experts to deliver solutions that meet project scope requirements, including Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Service (DFS).
- Develop, implement, and coordinate validation plans in R&D test facilities.
- Work with Test and Reliability teams using systematic methodologies such as DFMEA and performance modeling.
- Create detailed documentation for electrical/electronic components, including specification drawings and application specification documents.
- Coordinate regulatory testing of electrical/electronic solutions at external agencies, including HALT and EMC testing as required by regulatory standards.
- Knowledge and ability to work within New Product Development (NPD) Process, with innate understanding of documented prerequisites and milestone deliverables.
- Liaise with Controls & Software Development groups to develop software and Controls Algorithms for different product units.
- Develop and manage supplier partnerships, working closely with vendors to develop and deliver solutions.
- Knowledge of relevant electrical safety standards and protocols applicable to mobile AC/DC voltage systems.
- Identify new design ideas and industry trends related to sensors, transducers, solenoids, actuators, motors, power electronics components, hybrid drive systems, and electrical actuation systems.
Key Competencies:
- Experience in Product Development and Electrical Systems development as per Marketing Requirement Document (MRD), Product Requirement Document (PRD) and Regulatory Requirements (RR)
- Prior experience in component qualification programs and new product development in an automotive/machinery environment.
- Experience in developing components like temperature sensors, actuators, solenoids, motors, power converters, drives, batteries, contactors, and knowledge of analog circuits, protection circuits, and controller hardware.
- Proficient in product level Electrical System Integration.
- Experience in design and debug of embedded microprocessor control systems desired.
- Knowledge and experience of control systems and software testing and debug is an advantage.
- Ability to manage critical product cost and new product development projects with team members and partners spread across global locations.
- Capable of developing and executing test plans, interpreting test data, and driving corrective measures.
- Previous experience in New Product Development (NPD) process, DFMEA, 6 Sigma, are desirable.
- Knowledge in PLM and Windchill is an advantage
Qualifications:
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in an Electrical / Electronic Engineering discipline.
- Approximately 9 - 12 years of experience in electrical product design experience in the industrial, or automotive industry desired.
- Onsite Experience in US or EU is preferred
- Position is based in Bangalore
