This role serves as the team lead for Piping & Layout Engineering, focusing on both R&D and Customer Order Projects, for auxiliary packages. The responsibilities include managing the COE and R&D teams, leading the complete design of package piping systems for defined projects involving multiple gas turbine (GT) frames, and coordinating with Siemens Internal Customers in Germany, Finspang & Orlando, Siemens project management, and fabrication vendors. The position is based in Gurgaon, India, with a primary focus on ensuring on-time and quality delivery. The role also involves maintaining high engagement and motivation levels within an experienced team of 30 engineers, leads, and experts.


Your new role – challenging and future-oriented:


  • Lead and manage the Piping and Layout team, ensuring optimal resource utilization.
  • Coordinate with various disciplines within Siemens, including Fluid System Process Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Balance of Plant, and Civil Engineering.
  • Developing Optimized Piping reference design in various R&D frames of Gas Turbines including Auxiliary Integrated Packages
  • Liaise with Siemens Internal Customers in Germany, Finspang & Orlando, Siemens Project Management, and the Fabrication Vendor.
  • Execute Piping Project productively while fulfilling leadership responsibilities.
  • Ensure the quality of work and adherence to tight schedules for all projects handled by the GCO team.
  • Guarantee conformity with reference designs and all project-specific requirements.
  • Prepare basic and detailed designs, procurement specifications, and BOQs for GT Piping.
  • Plan and coordinate with third parties for flexible loading.
  • Plan and model piping and supports using 3D tools like Open Plant, and extract drawings including isometric, GA, and support drawings.
  • Interface with the GT & GT Piping Erection Manual, and assume responsibility for the GT Piping Product & Maintenance documentation.
  • Participate in global meetings with stake holders
  • Report to GCO GGN Head.
  • Drive design-to-cost measures.
  • Outsource design and drafting tasks to external engineering services.
  • Identify & Provide field/site support when needed.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:


  • Expertise in piping design and knowledge of the ASME power piping code B31.1 and other relevant codes for flanges, fittings, materials, etc.
  • Proficiency in modeling tools like Open Plant or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of GT packages, P&IDs, skids, escape routes, fire protection, and hazardous area requirements.
  • Understanding of Fuel Gas & Fuel Oil systems, Lube Oil systems, Instrument Air, Compressed Air, Purge Air system, Wet Compression system, etc.

Expertise in project engineering management.
